The invasion of alien plants not only threatens the biodiversity of the invasive ecosystem, changes the structure and function of the ecosystem, but also causes huge economic losses to the invasive areas and even threatens human health. The prevention and control of alien invasive plants have become a hotspot of ecological research.Solidago Canadensis L.(S.canadensis L.)is one of the most serious invasive alien plant harm in China currently. In order to better understanding the botanical characteristics of S.canadensis L.,and reveals its invasion mechanism,it provides a scientific basis of effective prevention and control of S.canadensis L..The in situ observation method was used to study the growth dynamics of the main stems, branches and leaves of S.canadensis L..The morphological and anatomical structure of the vegetative organs and pollen of S.canadensis L.was studied by microscopic observation method, and the TTC method was used. The main results were showed that:(1)The growth of the main stems of S.canadensis L.in the two samples increased continuously, and the growth curve was similar. The total growth rate of the main stem of S.canadensis L.in the Liuye Lake area was 65% higher than that in doum lake area. The total growth of branches is almost the same. The total growth rate of S.canadensis L.leaves in Liuye Lake area was 37% higher than that of the doum lake area. The total growth rate of S.canadensis L.leaves in the Liuye lake area was 187% higher than that in doum lake area.(2)The number of stomata in the upper and lower epidermis of S.canadensis L.leaves were significant different, with fewer stomata in the upper epidermis but more stomata in the lower epidermis. The palisade tissue in the mesophyll was thick, and the root system was developed. Its underground stem is rhizomes,in the base of the main stem occurs a large number of rhizomes, and underground stem can produce a large number of buds. These physiologyally explain the reasons for their strong competitiveness.(3)There was no significant difference in the shape and size of the pollen of S.canadensis L.between Changsha and Yueyang, while there was significant difference in the shape and size of the pollen between Changde and Changsha and Yueyang. There was no significant difference in the pollen viability of S.canadensis L.between Changsha and Yueyang, while in Changde,Changsha, and Yueyang,S.canadensis L.had the lowest pollen viability, and the pollen viability before transplanting was greater than that after transplanting.
