With the development of the city, the changes of the city climate have more and more drawn people's attention. Heat island effect is both a negative effect which the development of the city has brought and a manifestation which the development up to a significant extent. In the last 20 more years of reform and opening-up, the city is developing fast and the phenomena that city's temperature is higher than the one of suburban is more obvious.Firstly, a satellite monitoring system-EOS-MODIS was introduced, to retrieve the surface temperature using the MODIS data and analyze the seasonal and annual changes of the urban group's heat island effect statistically. Secondly, the thermodynamics landscape structure with the thermodynamics landscape science was analyzed quantitatively. The results show that the heat island effect in the major northern cities is obvious in winter according to the documents, but we found that the heat island effect is most distinct in the late spring and the early autumn after analyzing the seasonal changes of heat island effect in the Yangtze delta. We come to a conclusion from the remote sensing results of the whole 2004-year and the last 7years:The city heat island has a close relationship with the degree of the urbanization (city buildings'area, population number, population density, industry development, transportation and so on), the geometric figure of the city, geographic conditions, human activity manner, etc.The results by study are as follows: there is a good linear negative correlation between the surface temperature and the vegetation index in NanJing; based on that, the current situation of heat island effect and the format of thermodynamics landscape was analyzed by the thermodynamics landscape science method which is a front research method in our country, We found that the dense woods and nonindustrial lands were the base of the thermodynamics landscape. Although the heat island effect in nanjing is clear, the dominance index of high temperature is smaller. The thermodynamics landscape's results provide a theoretical basisto relieve the region heat island effect.
