Negative index of refraction medium, whose values of permittivity and permeability are simultaneously negative, has many singular properties such as negative group velocity, negative refractive index, perfect imaging, inverse Doppler effect and abnormal Cerenkov radiation.Two kinds of negative index of refraction medium are constructed, they are single-split-ring-resonator (SSRR) pattern and quasi-Ω-like pattern. Numerical simulation is performed on them, the transmission curves are obtained and the frequency intervals of negative refractive index are determined. The method for retrieving electromagnetic characterized parameters of negative index of refraction medium is studied, two kinds of H-patterned structures are analyzed and the electromagnetic characterized parameters representing the effect of negative refractive index are obtained, including wave impedance, refractive index, relative permittivity and relative permeability.Guided modes in an air waveguide made with a negative index of refraction medium cladding are studied. In the case of near-field imaging, the mechanism of regenerating evanescent waves from silver superlens is analyzed. The effect of no reflection of TE and TM polarized lightwave based on negative index of refraction medium is presented.
