In recent years, with the development of computer science and Web technology, using and sharing resource through the internet has been drawing more and more attention of researchers. Currently, because of the improvement on the sensor's revolution, the data volume of RS image becomes larger and larger. Furthermore, many research fields use the processed image to do kinds of works, which makes the process of RS image more and more complicate. The nature of RS's image-process confines the share of image and the usage of process ability through the internet. Fortunately, making use of Web Service and workflow technology will be a good way to resolve these problems. The paper will research on the web-based distributed process of RS image at three main contents: basic theory, resolve method and implement.First of all, based on analyze the architecture of the web-based software, and research on OGC Web Service architecture, the paper propose to use the Service-Oriented Architecture(SOA) to establish such a distributed platform. Take into account the difference of three workflow model languages, the RS's image process workflow will be described by BPEL4WS criterion. In the resolve method part, there propose a DPS(Distributed Process System) architecture of the RS image which based on OWS(OpenGIS Web Services) of OGC. After that, there propose a method to classify the image process algorithm and a general model of the RS image process workflow. Meanwhile, the paper research on OGC's WPS(Web Process Service), and extent the WPS for especially RS's image process. At last, all the geospatial data and algorithm have been encapsulated as Web services, and the complicated process have been modeled. A web-based application which called RS.NET is implemented on the .NET platform using ASP.NET, javascript and HTML, the web application can get and process the geospatial data and algorithm through the Web Service interfaces.
