Taxonomic Study And Geographical Distribution Of Myxosporean (Prorozoa: Myxozoa) From Some Marine Fishes Of Coasts Off China Waters

Myxoporean parasites are parasitic in fresh-water fishes and marine fishes. Early research mostly focused on myxozoans of fresh-water fishes in China. The reports about the marine groups are scattered. Especially little attention has been paid to the myxozoan parasites infecting fishes in Southeast China Sea.As an item of Natural Science Foundation, our lab started the taxonomic study on Myxosporean from marine fishes of Southeast China Sea in 2005. And here is the sequential work in 2006. 19 species of myxosporeans from marine fishes of Southeast China Sea are founded.They are subjected to 7 gena of Myxosporea. Myxidium Bütschii, 1882: Myxidium sebastisca n. sp., Myxidium hemiramphi n. sp., Myxidium epinephelum Zhao & Huang, 2006, Myxidium xiamenense Zhao & Huang, 2006, Myxidium sphaericum Thélohan, 1892; Ceratomyxa Thelohan, 1892: Ceratomyxa sprenti Moser et al., 1989, Ceratomyxa menae n. sp., Ceratomyxa trachinoti n. sp., Ceratomyxa simplex Zhao & Song, 2003, Ceratomyxa mugila Zhao & Huang, 2006 Ceratomyxa bohaiensis n. sp.; Leptotheca Thelohan, 1895: Leptotheca macrospora Auerbach, 1909; Sphaeromyxa Thélohan,1892: Sphaeromyxa balbianii Thelohan, 1895, Sphaeromyxa elegini Dogiel, 1948; Thelohanellus Kudo,1933: Thelohanellus ariusi n. sp.; Myxodavisia Laird,1953: Myxodavisia sebastisca n. sp.; Kudoa Meglitsch,1947: Kudoa petalum n. sp., Kudoa puramis n. sp., Kudoa uncinata n. sp..The descriptions of these myxosporeans are in accordance with the guidelines of Lom & Arthur (1989) and Lom & Dyková(1992), while the taxonomy and experimental ways followed the compendious classified system and research methods presented by Yunjun Zhao (2000).
