A survey of parasitic nematodes of marine fishes from Yellow Sea,China was made during May. 2005 to Oct. 2006. 950 fishes belonging to 94 species were examined for nematodes. Based on the collection of nematodes in this investigation, the taxonomy of the genus Hysterothylacium Ward & Magath, 1917 was studied. The main results are as follows:Seven species of adult nematodes belonging to the genus Hysterothylacium were identified and described. Among them, three species are new to science, two species are first record from China and two species are known species in China. Hysterothylacium liparis n.sp. was collected from intestine, ventriculus and Intestinal caecum of Liparis tanakae (Gilbert & Burke). Hysterothylacium sinensis n.sp. was collected from the intestine of Astroconger myriaster (Brevoort),Saurida elongata (Temminck & Schlegel), Coryphaena hippurus Linnaeus, Sillago cuvier (Forskal), Argyrosomus argentatus (Houttuyn) and Trichiuridae haumela (Forskal). Hysterothylacium sauridaen.sp. was collected from intestine of S. elongate (Temminck & Schlegel). Hysterothylacium fabri (Rudolphi, 1819) in Lepidotrigla japonica (Bleeker), Trachurus japonicus (Temminck & Schlegel), Argyrosomus argentatus (Houttuyn), A. myriaster (Brevoort) and Hysterothylacium tasmaniense (Johnston & Mawson, 1945) in Lophius litulon(Jordan)are first record from China. Moreover, Hysterothylacium aduncum (Rudolphi, 1802) in L. litulon(Jordan), Gadus macrocephalus Tilesius, Zoarces elongatus Kner, Cleisthenes herzensteini (Schmidt), Hexagrammos otakii Jordan & Starks, L. tanakae (Gilbert & Burke), Sebastodes fuscescens (Houttuyn), Raja smirnovi, Scomberomorus niphonius (Guvie & Valenciennes), Inimicus japonicus (Cuvier & Valenciennes), Stromateoides argenteus (Euphrasen), Harengula zunasi Bleeker, Clupanodon punctatus (Temminck & Schlegel), A. myriaster (Brevoort), Sebastiscus marmoratus (Cuvier & Valenciennes) and Hysterothylacium amoyense (Hsü, 1933) in Muraenesox cinereus (Forskal) are known species in China.Based on the redescription of Hysterothylacium amoyense (Hsü, 1933), the validity of Hysterothylacium muraenesoxin (Luo, 1999) was discussed, and it regarded as a synonym of Hysterothylacium amoyense (Hsü, 1933). Likewise, a key to the species of genus Hysterothylacium was given based on the analysis of the main morphological characters.
