The developmental history and tendency of the groundwater resources is outlined, the application of new techniques and methods to hydrogeology is discussed, and the fundamental conceptions and current study situation of groundwater system are studied in this paper. Based on analyzing hydrologic characteristics of the North Wuqing, the recharge and discharge relationship of groundwater is studied, The characteristics of groundwater system, which includes aquifer system, groundwater flow system and water chemical system, of the Emergency Wellfield in the North Wuqing District are discussed comprehensively. On the basis of a conceptual model in the area, a 3-dimensional groundwater flow model is developed and calibrated by MODOFLOW, which is based on finite difference system. Then the allowable withdrawal of groundwater is estimated The mining capacity of the prospective water field of the Emergency Wellfield is demonstrated, the water supply of 5 万m~3/d is reasonable.
