A Study On Workflow Technology Application For Government GIS

Workflow system is excellent in flow management, hetero-structure system integration and coordination. Aiming to improve processing capability for spatial data, enhance manageability of the procedure for geographic spatial analysis and simplify the use of government GIS, the topic tries to introduce workflow technology into government GIS for the management of complicated geographic spatial analysis, professional analysis models and procedure of e-government general affairs.With analyzing the applications of workflow technology on enterprises management, office automatization and geographical field, this paper presents the concept of spatial information services workflow. The research is centered on some key technologies for spatial information services workflow: workflow graphical modeling technology, web services technology and service oriented architecture (SOA) for GIS.Based on demands analysis of government GIS, Workflow oriented government GIS system structure is designed. The system has three portions: spatial information services, workflow management and application interface. The paper is probing the implementation for the three portions by reconstructing the existing system. Finally, the usage of workflow is clearly narrated by two straight spatial information services workflow instances.
