GIS is one of the main technologies on land use and land cover change (LUCC). Because single GIS software usually is difficult to fulfill the studies on LUCC, so it is necessary for LUCC studies to use some common functions of different GIS software by file type switchover. But when using several GIS software still cannot complete study, we need study macro language to satisfy the study demand.So the thesis developed the land use forecast system in virtue of GIS secondary development technology, and combined spatial data with attribute data. The system supports inputting, exporting, storing, searching and simulating space-time data, and displays the spatial and attribute data users wanting and the land use prediction outcomes visibly. The system achieved the operation request facing to users. For LUCC researchers, they needn't take much time and energy to study programming languages again. The system makes their work more efficiency.The thesis drives from the construction of Tarim valley water management system which is presided by Aerial Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Bureau (ARSC). Tarim valley land use change prediction system is one subsystem of the whole Tarim valley water management system. It is designed for leaders and employees of Tarim valley management bureau, so the main function of the system is map display, simple interface, strong analysis ability, and high efficiency.The thesis uses COMGIS technology -ArcObjects groupware and Visual Basic language developing Tarim valley land use change prediction system. It displays the forecast outcomes with map and diagram, and shows land use change dynamic prediction law, and offers scientific evidence to leaders.The dissertation consists of five parts.The first part: Introduction. It summarizes the applications of GIS on the land use study, and the background, meaning, study content, and measure of the thesis.The second part: Summary of GIS secondary developing technology. This part mainly argues several system developing technologies of GIS.The third part: Construct of the system flat. This part shows the hardware and software status of the system.The forth part: Design and realization of Tarim valley land use change prediction system. It introduces the system structure design, function design, database design, developing process and running status.The fifth part: Conclusion. This part analysis the study works of the thesis, and discusses the existed problems and the further research content.The new idea of this article is the following:1. The object of the system is wide. It helps the professional LUCC researchers and the common users to make decisions.2. The system has many analysis function of different GIS software, so overcoming the data switchover trouble while using different software. Researchers can obtain various analysis results by adjusting parameters.3. The system manages spatial data based on relation database management system (Oracle). The database uses ArcSDE technology to combine the spatial data and the attribute data.4. Lots of studies only add extra features on GIS software with macro language. The article develops an independent system referring to the land use prediction case.These are some deficiency and expectation to the article.1. The system designs the forth class menu due to the complication of the program function. This results in the difficulty of system operation. Furthermore, the menu design is expected friendlier.2. The system realizes statistic analysis. It is expected to achieve more analysis feature and dynamic display.
