This dissertation firstly summarized the latest development on fabrication and characterization of metal/dielectric nanostructures, and especially reviewed the achievements for construction ordered metal/dielectric nano-array structures by anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template method and for investigation of their optical properties. Then the thesis mainly focused on presentation of author's three-year research work titled Optical properties of Cu/AAO nano-array structures for the master's degree. There are some important results obtained as following:1. We can easily modulate the structural parameter of AAO templates, such as pore diameter, depth and density, within a larger range by changing the technical conditions including electrolyte type, concentration, temperature, oxidation voltage, current and time, after further optimized the fabrication technique of AAO films.2. We investigated the photoluminescence (PL) properties and luminescence mechanism of AAO films, which showed a strong PL band of 350~600nm, prepared both in sulfuric acid and in oxalic acid solutions excepted phosphoric solution. The analysis revealed that the luminescence of 405nm of AAO films prepared in sulfuric acid solutions originated from F~+ centers, and the 455nm maybe originate from F centers, or from other reasons. However, the PL peak of 420nm for AAO films prepared in oxalic acid solutions was from F~+, while the peak of 470nm originated from luminescence center which related to oxalate ions.3. We studied the absorption and photoluminescence properties of the Cu/AAO nano-array structures that Cu nano-particles were deposited into AAO template. The results showed that as the Cu composition increased, the absorption band red-shifted from near-ultraviolet to near-infrared, and the PL peak was weakened gradually. We found that the absorption of Cu nanoparticles and nonradiative energy transfer made the quenching photoluminescence of Cu/AAO nano-array composite.
