The extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields (ELFEMF) were very related to human's health and living environment and its biological effects were more and more interested to scientists. Cancers were related to ELFEMF in epidemiology and it was also found that externally supplied electromagnetic fields can be used to treat the bone fracture, muscle-related diseases and hypertension. The biological effect of ELFEMF has been paid much more attention since Bassett first applied ELFEMF to the non-unions in 1977, but its mechanism was still obscure. In the dissertation the effects of ELFEMF's parameters, such as frequency, strength, duration and induced electric field on neonatal rat cranial bone cell were studied. The results and findings were as follows:1. Developing an extremely low frequency electromagnetic stimulator: The EMF exposure unit was composed of waveform generator and stimulating coils, the former can produce rectangular, triangular, sinusoidal and pulsed waveforms with frequencies from OHz to 150Hz and currents from OA to 10A. The stimulating coils applied in the exposure unit were a solenoid which internal diameter and length are 5cm and 25cm.2. Studying the method of culturing the osteoblast cell in vitro: By digestion with enzyme and tissue explanting, cranial bone of neonatal SD rat was...
