Research And Application Of GeoProcessing Service Based On Web Services

21~st century is the era of Information Technology and the Internet. With the rapid development of the Internet, GIS applications extend its area from desktop to the Internet. Although there are huge geospatial information exists in the Internet, we have to face the facts that Thousands of Web sites provide images and maps of the earth, but they do not work together, it is hard to using our web browser to seamlessly access, view and exploit the vast, diverse and widely distributed geospatial data holdings on the Web.As the greatest formulator and proponent about geospatial information interoperation in the world, OGC advances geo-information Web Service framework based on Web Services as a solution to the above problem and prepares a series of specifications such as WMS (Web Map Service), WFS (Web Feature Service), WCS (Web Coverage Service). The specifications solve basically the problem about access to distributed geospatial data holding, users are capability of access to geo-data on server in accord to the specifications. Thus, the next research direction is acquiring the capability on distributed geo-data process.At first, the related theories in OGC are introduced in the paper. It is emphasis on the description of total service framework. The paper also mentions the function about geodata processing service in the framework. Then, it is preliminary research on the characters of geodata processing service and classification. At last, we demonstrate on the architecture of geodata processing service and the interface characters in distributed circumstance through two examples.
