As one of the emerging science and technology in 60's of 20th centry, the remote sensing takes humanity steps to the outer space, observes and gains the earth information. The remote sensing is an advanced science and technology, which has the specificity of macromscopic, accuracy and generatly, and has the ablity of observation and monitor.After more than 50 years development, the remote sensing obtains the enormous enhancement in the information acquisition ability aspect, simultaneously its application domain also unceasingly expands. But data sharing, the data transmission, the data retrieval as well as the application system integration and mutually operates these demands, as well as the geographic information system discipline development path, indicates the remote sensing standardization work necessity.The remote sensing standardization work is a structure systems engineering, refers to other domains as well as unifies own characteristic, its content should include: Data standard, application standard, information technology standard and profession standard. This article centralism discussed the data standard and the application standard.In the data standard, as a result of the number according to the standard importance, this article in view of the remote sensing data characteristic, proposed remote sensing number according to model embryonic form, according to remote sensing data life cycle concept, to remote sensing number according to the content from the satellite platform, the sensor, the scanning condition to the application model, the palette and so on, with the object-oriented thought, has carried on to the number according to the content abstract and is broad, finally forms to have the compatibility and the extended number according to the model. Regarding the remote sensing application standard, the author in the analysis remote sensing information model characteristic foundation, proposed with the binary tree to the remote sensing information model analysis thought, simultaneously in the binary tree model in the foundation to propose expression remote sensing information model language -RML. RML based on the XML technology, absorbs the important thought which the XML expression and the realization separates, has formulated the remote sensing information model expression description standard. Thus the convenience researcher's exchange and the achievement issued promotion remote sensing application model research.
