With the development of society and the strengthening of the integrated national power, the traffic basic establishment of our country have great improvement. But the increase of roads can not satisfied the requirements of the increase of car' s number and traffic flux, the phenomenon of traffic jam is more serious than before. At the same time, traffic jam conduce to environment pollution and energy sources wasting. So the Intelligent Traffic System appeared that can resolve these problems. As an important and basic part of ITS, the Vehicle Navigation System can use the road facility in existence to improve the traffic jam efficiently, supply the services of route planning and vehicle location for driver, and make it easy to manage and dispatch traffics.This paper mostly introduce three issues of Vehicle Navigation System, that are navigation geographic database standard, data structure and data model, superior road. At the last section, one issue is emphasized that how to rectify the map in the course of using city travel map to making electronic map. For the result with one-degree polynomial, quadratic polynomial and cubic polynomial can not satisfies the request of map precision, author bring forward using cubic spline interpolation to rectify travel map. Connecting with example, the results of these arithmetic are compared, and the cubic spline interpolation is confirmed as a effective method to rectifying map. At last, it is pointed out that the result of map rectification still can not satisfied the vehicle navigation system' s request, but the reasons that lead to this result is analyzed and the methods is brought forward to resolve it.
