The methods of classical classification integrating the study on leaf epidemics morphology, along with vein, were used to revise and complete theformer taxonomic system.1. Through observing the specimens(including types), a new system of thegenus Illicium Linn was reconstructed, and Illicium Linn was subdivided into 33 species, 2 subspecies, 1 varietas in this dissertation.2. Illicium oligandrum Merrill & Chun and I. parvifolium Merrill subsp. oligandrum (Merrill & Chun) Q. Lin are regarded as new synonyms of I. parvifolium Merrill.3. I. sumatranum A. C. Smith as a new synonym of I, ridleyanum A. C. Smith.4. I. ternstroemioides A. C. Smith is recorded newly to Vietnam.5. Leaf epidermises of 33 species(91 samples) of Illicium were investigated under the light microscope and scanning electron microscope.5.1 As a whole, the morphologic characters of Leaf epidermises of Illicium are stable. For example, the upper epidermis cells are polygonal or irregular in shape. The patterns of anticlinal walls are straight, sinuolate, sinuous or sinuate. There are no secretory cells and stomata apparatuses in the upper epidermis. But the lower epidermis cells are only irregular in shape. The patterns of anticlinal walls are sinuolate, sinuous or sinuate. There are secretory cells and stomata apparatuses in the lower epidermis, and the stomata apparatuses are...
