Vicia Linnaeus. Belongs to the family Leguminosae Tribe Fabeae, herbs annual orperennial, mainly distributed in the temperate regions of the northern hemisrhere and LatinAmerica. About200species in the world, there have43species Widely distributed in allregions in China, the northwest, north China, southwest more, in southern China and Taiwanregions of the genus distribution is relatively small, only1.Because of changeable form ofplant in Vicia, it is difficult to master the variation amplitude. This paper from three aspects todistinguish specie-leaf epidermal micro-morphology, leaflet venations, morphologicalfeatures of seed surfaces, the results as follows:(1)The leaf epidermal micro-morphology’results showed that stomatal distribution havethree cases–only in the upper epidermis, only in the lower epidermis and both. The shapes ofstoma were oval or ovate and the type of stomatal apparatuses in Vicia L. are anomocytic. Theshapes of the epidermal cells are usually irregular or polyggonal. The cutin ornamentation onboth lower epidermis and upper epidermis were obviously different among different speciesin genus Vicia L.. There were gland hair or trichomes on some leaves of this genus. These leafepidermal morphology characters can hardly provide evidence to identify the traditional ingrouping mode, but they can provide evidence to identify species and study the systematicrelationships of the taxa in Vicia L..(2)Leaflets linear,linear-lanceolate,or oblong, apex rounded or acute, mucronate;margin entire, without gland(except V. kulingiana); Primary vein framework is pinnate, include simple brochidodromous, festooned brochidodromous and eucamptodromous;Themain vein diameter slender, medium, rough or coarse;major secondaries connect with midveindecurrently, most major secondaries have PCOPCs and also exisit in some3°,4°and even5°veins.Intersecondary veins common or not, usually less or more than50%of thesubjacent secondary.3°Vein irregular reticulate, the vein usually have forth vein, a fewspecies have4°and5°Veins; Areolation present from poor development to paxillate;mosthave FEVs, FEVs terminals simiple or one or highly branched;(3)Morphological features of seed surfaces in the genus Vicia, different species’morphology have similarities and differences: the similarities are①all species’ morphologyonly have primary ornamentation but secondary;②primary ornamentation consists ofverrucous substance, round substance, wrinkled ring or smooth pentagon; The difference isdifferent primary ornamentation of different specie. Morphological features of seed surfaces in the genus Vicia L.exhibit rich diversity, the species of one section maybe same or not anddifferent section can exibit similarity. It is not reasonable to explain the dividtion of Vicia L.section, but it is very usefull to divide spicies.
