As part of the project named "CEDASGrid (China Earthquake Disaster Alleviation and Simulation Grid)", this paper deals with grid computing platform and seismic observation data service for Internet release based on Web GIS.The first part deals with grid computing platform. For working efficiency, reliability and stability, we make an improvement on the grid computing platform constructed at its initial stage by studying grid technology, computer network, computer system and organizational structure, etc.With the model of ProRMJA(The Program of Resource Management and Job Allocation), we try to resolve the problems of acquiescing in each calculation node for offering computing service, completing tasks and allocating jobs. To offer computing service in each calculation node, we put forward a framework of "computing pool" to ensure the management of job allocation. And at the same time, we improve user's web interface to guarantee the stability of the platform. For the problem of acquiescing in each calculation node for completing tasks, we manage job allocation through monitoring operational progress at each node and setting time threshold value. For the problem of difference in computing ability, the weighted value quantification of performance is calculated so as to allocate jobs for each node according to "need". The weighted value quantification for each node is fulfilled through a comprehensive consideration of the influence of every factor on the computing ability and then by means of weighted calculation, so that the working efficiency of the entire platform has been raised. Several examples of scientific calculation have been completed.The second part deals with seismic information service. We put forward the pattern of exploratory development based on GIS and carry out Web GIS applications on the platform of the ArcGIS of ESRI corporation.
