On the basis of biochemical process of age pigment formation mechanisms and profound understanding of lipid peroxidation and glycation, professor Yin and professor Brunk proposed the aging hypothesis of carbonyl stress in 1995. The hypothesis suggests that reactive unsaturated aldehydes and ketones produced in lipid peroxidation and glycation can inevitably result in carbonyl-amino reaction with macromolecules in body, and then change their functions. The acute and chronic effects on mice by one of the secondary products in lipidperoxidation - melondialdehyde (MDA) in different dosages havebeen studied. The effect of MDA on mice was also investigated by measuring animals' electroencephalogram (EEG). A possible anti-MDA toxification mechanism of melatonin (MLT) was discovered and reported by this study. The studies included in this thesis are summarized as follows:1. Studied the acute and chronic impacts of MDA on the physical stamina of mice through burden swimming and pole-climbing and the chronic impacts of MDA on plastic viscosity of blood combined with the study of the metabolism of MDA in mice serum by fluorescence. The results showed that the acute and chronic impacts of MDA on the physical stamina of mice were very significant. In the experiment of acute impaction of MDA, the physical stamina of mice was lowest at 5min to 10min after 200mM MDA had been injected intraperitoneally (0.1mL/10g). After then the physical stamina of mice rose progressively. At the same time, the content of MDA in mice serum was highest at 5min to lOmin after MDA had been injected, and it declined significantly after then. In studies it was also found that the blood's plastic viscosity of mice rose significantly after MDA had been injected constantly for 20 days.2. Studied the method of measuring animals' EEG through brain electrical activity mapping. In this experiment the EEG of rabbit, rat and mouse on...
