Danger And Saving--A Brief Discussion On Heidegger's Thoughts Of Technology

As to the probes of being, Heidegger has dedicated his whole life on it. And on the road of questioning being, he contrived many signposts and technology is one of them. Heidegger spent much more time on technology. It is under the guide of the signpost of technology that Heidegger was inspired a set of questions toward technology and began to implore the essence of it, which then conveyed his great thoughts of technology.Heidegger's thoughts of technology is not a member of the many technological ideas; it is something behind those ideas. Heidegger found that as Metaphysics entered into its end, the revealing essence of technology, had degenerated into enframing in the present age. The essence of. modern technology becomes enframing. Enframing is the gathering together which belongs to that setting-upon which challenges man and puts him in position to reveal the actual, in the mode of ordering, as standing-reserve. Thus where enframing reigns, there is danger in the highest sense. When man faces the highest danger, what should he do? -To resist technology or to abandon himself? Heidegger denied both of the choices for he thought destining is by no means equal to a fate. So as long as people could find a way to help through thinking, man would be saved. At that time people would regain their lost homeland, romantically dewlling on the earth.The article pursues Heidegger's thoughts of technology in four aspects: origin,essence, danger and saving , and tries to highlight "the danger and saving " of modern technology within the existence realm of modern human beings.
