Bifidobacteria are strict anaerobic germs, sensitive to oxygen, hard to nutritional condition, not tolerant to low pH, and short survivibility. This resulted in the great difficulty for Bifidobacterium fermenting dairy products in industrialization, aiming at the peculiarity of Bifidobacterium, the tasks studied the effects of Lycium barbarum' s extract on the growth of Bifidobacterium in order to provide theoritical foundation for the utilization of Lycium barbarum resource and development of bifidus yogurt, using L Lycium barbarum and Chinese yam as experimental material and B. adolescentis as strain tested. The main results are as follows:(1) It was evidence that the Lycium barbarum and Chinese yam' s extracts promoted the growth of Bifidobacterium adolescentis, optimum concentration respectively 50% and 25%.(2) Cultural conditions of B. adolescentis were studied. By doing this, two optimum reproducible culture medium was optimized, namely Lycium barbarum and Chinese yam cultrue. Looking at the measured indexs, the former was superior to the latter, culture medium containing was Under optimum culture condition , growth curve for Bifidobacterium adolescentis was measured. By Hungate anaerobic cultivition and a concrete roll tube method detecting CFU during the stationary phase, CFU got to 2. 21X10 N cfu/mL(3) The rule of Glucose and LBP-X fermented by B. adolescentis were practically studied. Under strict anaerobic condition, the growth of thallic and consume curve of Glucose and LBP-X were measured. The results shew: B. adolescentis fermented Glucose rapidly, consume ability 28.7% before 12h. This suggested that B. adolescentis fermenting Glucose was of good ability; But B. adoscentis fermented LBP-X very slowly, consume ability 7.9% before 12h, and 67.7% when 40h.(4) The accession of Lycium barbarum s extract increased B. adolescentis two weeks livability and improved the flavor and sensory evaluation of B. adolescentis fermenting fresh-milk; Antibacterial and young mice fed experiments shew Lycium barbarum s extract and B. adolescentis are exploited as synbiotics.
