Gene Technology And People's Development In An All-Round Way

Marxism holds that science and technology is not only the productivity but also the leading productivity, as well as the concentrated embodiment and major symbol of advanced productivity. Productive power is the basest decisive factor in the development of human society. It determines political superstructure and ideological superstructure. Therefore, the development of science and technology has not only improved the changes of social systems but also pushed forward the reforms of life styles and thinking patterns of mankind. The development of science and technology was embodied by different leading technology in different stages: steam technology in the 17th and 18th centuries, electrical and diesel technology in the 19th century, nuclear energy and electronic computer in the 20th century. And the 21st century is the century of biology of which the most important one is gene technology. Accordingly, with the rapid development of science and technology, human beings also liberate and develop themselves gradually. According to research of the development history of human civilization. The development of science and technology and the development of human beings tend to be positively correlated. This tendency is embodied in the relationship between gene technology and the all-round development of human beings.Gene technology is based on modern molecular biology, cell biology and molecular genetics and closely related to organic phenomena. Whether it can be fully developed will directly influence the life quality of human beings. On the one hand, it can improve the physiological quality of human beings. On the other hand, its development can strengthen people's psychological quality by arranging the activities of the endocrine system. Supported by this feature, this paper tries to explore the functions of gene technology on influencing individual all-round development from the aspects of the proper physiological and psychological development of human beings. Gene technology, like science and technology, has its side effects such as gene discrimination, gene invasion, gene patent and gene weapons. These side effects will hold back people's all-round development if it is not dealt with properly. On this question, by the research into the coordinated developmental relationship between science and technology and ethics and the analysis of the responsibility human beings hold in scientific and technological activities, it is thought that gene technology can march on stably and be more favorable for people's all-round development if mutual promotion and coordinated development between gene technology and gene ethics can be achieved and human beings can obtain scientific and technological accomplishment through the popularization of science.This paper consists of five chapters. Chapter 1 and chapter 2 mainly discuss the basic understanding of gene technology and people's all-round development and their origin, development and tendency.Chapter 3, the central part of this paper, focuses on the topic that the development of gene technology accelerates individual development. The positive effect is reflected on two aspects: physiological aspect and psychological aspect. The former is the base of individual all-round development. The latter is the principle reflection of individual all-round development. The influence of gene technology on physiological health can be obtained mainly by gene treatment, which is divided into somatic treatment and germ cell treatment. While the influence of gene technology on psychological health is mainly reflected on promoting psychological quality including temperament,ability and characteristics.
