Land use/ Land cover change (LUCC) is an important portion, which is the frontier and hot point, of global change research. It requires not only macro study in large dimension but also is matched by research in small scale. Land resources are the most important and essential nature resources to human. So analyzing the land use information, forecasting LUCC, putting forward rational land use policies are the premise of managing land use correctly.This paper fuses LUCC and social economy factors, and utilizes LANDSAT images obtained in 1989-1990 and 1999-2000, with the use of integration of Remote Sensing, Geography Information System, Global Positioning System and mathematical methods, which builds up dynamic database of land resource use rapidly and accurately.Using the fruits and experiences of prior for reference, we adopts the method of classifying regions of land use change mainly by the area differentiation characteristics, at the same time, puts forward a integrated variable K, which reflects distinction and differentiation of classification regions, on this base, probes analysis on characteristics and forming course of classified regions, on the side, while analyzing the influential factors, applies the statistic method of canonical correlation analysis, and has good analysis results.As for the contents, in the first place, we do some quantitative and qualitative analysis in spatio-temporal characteristics on LUCC in different scales, Hubei Province and the classifying regions, in which the classifying regions are classified on the foundation of LUCC area differentiation feature. Furthermore, according to the spatio-temporal characteristics of Hubei Province and the classifying regions, we analysis the driving factors for each other. Where we employ SPSS statistic software to operate canonical correlation analysis, in which using the variation of economic datum between 1988-1998 as independent variable group X, towns and cities of Hubei being taken as statistic unit, the area of LUCC acting as normal variable group Y.This study can provide not only the LUCC research with a regional research case, but also scientific base for managing land resources.
