Study On The Planning Of Waterfront Spatial System Of Wuhang City

As the significant natural resource of urban exploitation, urban waterfront shows its important value in improving urban environments and enriching the local style and features. With the increasingly rising emphasis on the ecological natural environment and the advancing of the idea of Sustainable Development, the particularly position of urban waterfront is drawing the attention of many people. For the renewal of cities, the revival of urban waterfront has been the popularity and tendency in the world and thought as the emphasis of urban planning and construction and the development of urban economy. Nowadays, the system of urban waterfronts planning and development has come into being and there have abundant successful practices. However, there still exist many problems in China about economy, society, ecology and culture in the exploitation of urban waterfront since the China is at the beginning of rapid process of urbanization.Based on the remote sensing pictures, relief map of Wuhan city in different periods and other datum, aided with the investigation on waterfronts, the author tries to research the waterfront spatial system synthetically and present this paper in three sections: investigation, analysis and exploration. The section for investigation is the collection of correlative basic material and the development of the exploitation of world waterfronts; The section for analysis mainly debates about the problems in the waterfront landscape pattern and the waterfront exploitation of Wuhan city; The last section for exploration advances some countermeasures and suggestions to meet the need of waterfronts renewal and urban ecological system construction of Wuhan city. This research is composed of following five chapters:Chapter 1: as the preface of this paper, this chapter firstly presents the background and the development of research about urban waterfront in the world especially in Wuhan city. Secondly, the purpose and significance of this research is presented, together with the research methods, research process and the main content and frame of this research.Chapter 2: a study of the change and history of urban waterfront spatial pattern in Wuhan city provides a dynamic background for the research object. This chapter debates this in two ways: the history of urban spatial structure of Wuhan city and the developing process of urban waterfront spatial pattern.Chapter 3: on the base of investigation and analysis, with the help of the software ofRs and Gis, this chapter analyzes the waterfront landscape pattern of Wuhan city and points out some problems in it.Chapter 4: with the analysis of practices of waterfront exploitation in Wuhan city, this part considers about the social and economic impetus for the waterfront exploitation and analyzes the existing problems in detail.Chapter 5: the crucial part of this paper. First, the basic thoughtfulness about the planning of waterfront landscape spatial system in Wuhan city and the planning mode are presented. Then practical measures and approaches for meliorating it in waterfront planning and construction of Wuhan city are introduced.
