The arable land classification is a large-scale project of Chinese land-regulation ministries now days. It is significant in the aspects of instructor of land market and strengthening of asset regulation in arable land as well as putting the market system into exerting the foundational function in the allocation of land resources.This dissertation is based on the regulation of arable land classification and degrading and the regular GIS soft ware as well as the DBMS technology, introducing the designing and development of the arable land classification information system on the base of the soft ware of Mapinfo, which can be taken into three subsystems: the classification subsystem, the query and analysis subsystem and the dynamic updating subsystem. The author emphasizes on the basis principles and technological ways about the system. At the same time, the classification subsystem is explicitly introduced in the case of the classification project of Longhua County in Heibei province. Finally, the author analysizes the characteristic and shortcomings of the system and put forward on the prospect of the system.The dissertation comprises three parts. The arable land classification system can be subdivided tree models: the arable land classification subsystem, the query and analysis subsystem and the dynamic update subsystem. In the first part the author discusses how to construct the arableland classification information system, which emphasizes the formation and the function of the system. The second part is the concrete example of the appliance in the arable land classification system where the process of the arable land classification, the classification data products and its analysis are introduced explicitly. The finally part not only puts forward to the characteristics of the system and its main shortcoming, but prospects the development of the system.Many studies have been worked in the appliance of GIS and the arable land classification information systems. In general, all these studies only work on the concrete classification, paying on attention on taking the arable classification as the fundamental informationization of land resources. The author has expensive experiences in the work of the arable land classification and the appliance of Mapinfo . On the basis of consulting related studies, the author combines the appliance of GIS and the query and dying update in the viewpoint of information system.Innovations:l.Expaining the structure of the arable land classification information system and the basic functions of its subsystem systematically and concretely which can instruct the arable classification project with the principles and ways of information system.2.Interpreting how to use the popular GIS soft ware into the arable classification project in the arable classification subsystem;3.Developing the query and analytic subsystem by interface technology which takes efficient use of the result data poor;4.Learning the experience about the dynamic update of land information system in and out of china and forwarding the technological ways of the arableland classification result and the melting methods with RS and GPS.
