In this paper, based on the documentation collection, on-site investigation and mapping and indoor analysis, geology condition, failure mechanism and stability of the quarry slope are studied systemically. Firstly, according to the natural geology study of the quarry, the control structure planes are determined, which are cut to be building blocks by two sets of main joints. Failure can occur due to the intensity weaken of the joint planes caused by excavation relief and rain immersion. Secondly, the finite-element analysis on the typical slope section is performed with establishment of geology model, definition of boundary condition and proper selection of mechanical parameters. The result shows that the slope is of integral stability, and the failure mode mainly comprises infrequent block drop and wedge body breakage. Considering the two failure modes of plane failure and wedge body breakage, and stability calculation under different work conditions, the slope stability is discussed and the sensibility analysis on its fraction angel and cohesion force is made. On the basis of the stability analysis, it is suggested that the slope cut combined with anchor cable should be used as its treatment measures. To obtain the proper slope-cut angel, the analysis formula of wedge body stability for arbitrary slope height and angel is established, which is used for typical section analysis to get the angel. Based on the anchorage mechanism study, the anchorage applicability for the slope is discussed. The optimum anchorage angel and minimum anchorage force for the slope reinforcement are obtained by the analytical method as well. To get the proper anchorage parameters, all the anchorage parameters are optimized combined with the practical situation. Finally, the slope excavation is simulated considering rainfall, no rainfall and anchor reinforcement.
