The vegetation is important component of human living environment and the most essential factor of ecosystem. Vegetation composition as well as spatial distribution is extremely important factor that affects the structure and the function of ecosystem.Ebinur Lake is located in Bortala Monggol Zizhizhou, which is in the west of Northern Xinjiang. The lake is in the middle latitude area of the hinterland of Eurasia, which is far away from the ocean; and the climate there is typically temperate continental drought. Because of unique geographical location and terrain features, the desert biological populations are diverse in the depression of Ebinur Lake, and the halophyte is diverse too.In this study we selected six typical sample lines around the periphery of Ebinur Lake. The vegetation data was collected every meter of each line, the soil samples were collected every 50 meters of each line. Then the three coordinates of each position was measured accurately by using RTK, meanwhile the percentage of water-soluble salt of soil samples was determined. In addition, we also analyzed the vegetation characteristics of the peripheral of Ebinur Lake and the features of water-soluble salt, and then built mathematical models which enabled us to further analyze the spatial pattern of vegetation and succession law. The preliminary results were listed as followings:(1) The latitude and longitude coordinates and the elevation were determined by the method of line transects, and the vegetation information was recorded on each plot. The results obtained were detailed and reliable, which proposed a new method for the research of ecological pattern.(2) The leading factor affecting the vegetation around the peripherally of Ebinur Lake was the content of water-soluble salt in soil.(3) The average value of the lowest position of dead haloxylon was 196.8 meter. If the water level of Ebinur Lake decreased,; if the water level increased, the growth position of haloxylon would be backward.(4) There was a relationship between the vegetation types of the periphery of Ebinur Lake and the distance as well as the elevation from the lakeside. The regression model is"y=Int(0.001x1-0.155x2+29.838)", x1 is the distance apart from the lakeside; x2 is the elevation from the lakeside. The available model for the relation of the distance: The available model for the relation of the elevation:(5) The vegetation variation of Ebinur Lake was roughly concluded as follows: the salt mud→wood salt desert festival→reed→Kalidium→Tamarix→White thorn→apocynum→Camel thorn→Karelinia→Haloxylon desert.(6) There was a relationship between the content of water-soluble salt in soil around the periphery of Ebinur Lake and the distance as well as the elevation from the lakeside. The regression model is , x1 is the distance apart from the lakeside; x2 is the elevation from the lakeside. The available model for the relation of the distance: y= 2E-09x3-1E-05x2-0.0376x+323.06 (The content of water-soluble salt was decreased with the distance from the lakeside) The available model for the relation of the elevation: (The content of water-soluble salt was decreased with the elevation from the lakeside, but Micro-topography could affect the result )(7) There was a relationship between vegetation types and the content of water- soluble salt, the regression model is...
