As the scale and scope of human activities enlarged, landslides, avalanches and other geological disasters have occurred frequently, they threaten human life and property seriously and affect sustainable development of local economies in recent years. For preventing them, China Geological Survey of Land and Natural Resources deployed to carry out a detailed investigation of geological disasters during the Eleventh Five-Years. The geological disasters at Yaozhou District of Tongchuan City in Shanxi Province in such a detailed investigation is undertaken in the context. This job concerns many areas such as geology, geomorphology, meteorology, hydrology, human engineering activity and so on. The project gets massive amounts of data, concerning type of complex survey data. In order to store and manage the data effectively and improve the efficiency of disaster prevention and mitigation in Yaozhou District, this paper relies on the spatial information database from the project named Detailed Investigation of Geological disasters in Yaozhou District, researches method of quantitative division about geological hazard susceptibility in Yaozhou District based on GIS spatial analysis.Through the in-depth analysis on disaster situation, formation conditions and predisposing factors of geological disasters in Yaozhou District, the paper take eight quantization factors including density of disaster point, rock and soil type, slope type, slope height, slope gradient, human engineering activities, rainfall, and vegetation as susceptibility index of Yaozhou geological hazard and calculate the weights of the evaluation factors using AHP. Then the paper make quantitative calculation of the evaluation factors and get the Normalized graph of each index under the ArcGIS platform. According to the weight of each index, carry the overlay analysis calculation on all index by using Spatial overlay analysis and divide the results into four levels to get the quantitative classification results of the state's geological hazard susceptibility. Then the zoning map at susceptibility of Yaozhou geological hazard is compiled. At the same time, Yaozhou's geological hazards is divided into four areas including high susceptibility areas, middle susceptibility areas, low susceptibility areas and non-susceptibility areas. This paper facilitate the development of database technology from qualitative to quantitative through the division and evaluation on geological disaster susceptibility of Yaozhou by using this method, it also greatly facilitate the disaster work for relevant departments of local government and provide a decision basis to prevention and mitigation of geological disasters in Yaozhou area. This paper also can provide a convenient and effective method just like quick and effective extraction, analysis and evaluation of data for professional and technical personnel, it still has some reference value to the prevention and research of geological disasters at Loess Plateau in the future.
