Study On Taxonomy And Ecology Of Epiphytic Green Algae In Shanghai

Aerial algae is generally a kind of algae which live in the surface of the trunk and branches, or live in the rocks, stones, soil surface and the surface of artificial buildings, They need water from the rain in the sky and stream. Epiphytic algae in the tree is a kind of aerial algae, which is this group of algae living in the surface of the trunk and branches.Shanghai is located in the leading edge of the Yangtze River Delta, is northern subtropical monsoon climate, and it's mild and humid. A large number of algae are easily adhere to the surface of the tree trunks and branches. From Februany to December in 2009 year, We collected specimens of epiphytic algae from 21 places in 17 districts and counties in Shanghai where and more than 400 specimens have been collected. The environment of 21 places investigated including industrial areas, parks, scenic areas, cultural and educational living areas. In these specimens, 17 genera, 28 species of the epiphytic algae have been identified, which belong to 2 classes, 7 orders, 11 families. In these species, 4 genera 4 species are new record in China. They are Dictyochloropsis splendida Geitler, Chlorokybus atmophyticus Geitler, Apatococcus constipates Printz , Leptosira terricola (Bristol)Printz.In addition, the ecological distribution of epiphytic green algae has been discussed. The result showed that the ecological distribution influenced by the regional climate, temperature, atmospheric environment is not notable and most species are distributed in many places, but it related to survival bark environment and Microenvironment of locality more closely. The number and quantity of these green algae is richer in environment of humid air, rough and multi-fracture, and filamentous algae were dominant, but also associated with a small amount of spherical algae; The number and quantity of these green algae is richer in environment of humid air and less cracks, filamentous and spherical algae are both distributed; The number and quantity of these green algae is less in environment of dry air and smooth bark relatively, spherical algae were dominant; The number and quantity of these green algae is less in environment of dry air, rough and multi-fracture, and filamentous and spherical algae are both distributed. At the same time, we found that Trentepohlia Martius is sensitive species in the atmosphere,and its indication on atmospheric environment can be further discussed.Epiphytic algae is an important group in aerial algae plants, but domestic study on it started late, and few research findings. The research of classification that epiphytic green algae and its ecological function in Shanghai area in this paper are the first time, and the results provided some basic materials for the research of diversity of the epiphytic algae and the further ecological studies.
