With the increasing scarcity of freshwater resources, seawater desalination system is more and more popular, especially reverse osmosis desalination technology is getting a rapid development. However, the price of desalination water is generally higher than the government supply is greatly blocking the development of desalination technology. Therefore, optimization the system architecture, system parameters, vigorously research the further reduce of the water costs is becoming one of the research directions.First, the paper has introduced the reverse osmosis desalination system structure and the process of the systems, especially for reverse osmosis membrane and the pipe material selection. It also discusses the selection criteria of the pipe materials and the membrane. The study and application IMS design of reverse osmosis system is help to find the relationship between the system parameters and energy consumption. Accordingly, more effective and more reasonable equipments are choused for the process. The increase rate of the system recovery has reduced the energy consumption, but you will not blindly pursue the reduction of the energy consumption, according to the water use and quality requirements of the finished product water to select the appropriate recovery of the membrane. Seawater in different regions has different concentration, and using different membrane pressure and high pressure pumps. Seawater with high concentration will need a membrane that can withstand high pressure.Finally, the paper designs and experiments the piston energy recovery device to find its performance characteristics. There are three control method including time control, optical control and flow control. The time control and the optical control have a low cost while the flow control has a best accuracy. Each method can realize the control of the energy recovery and have made a conclusion.
