With the progress of social civilization and the rapid development of science and technology, there has been more and more closely related with the fine particles, and the impact of industrial development, and marine exploration, environmental management and scientific research problems to be solved, the particle size and distribution and concentration of particles measured is the main content. Among the many methods of measurement, because of the whole measurement principle is simple, convenient and low cost measurement, the light scattering method is widely used. This thesis describes the current status of particle measurement technology, and analyzes the mechanism of light scattering and the basic principles - Mie theory, and numerical simulation. Detailed describe the Monte Carlo simulation of polarized light scattering, and introduce the use of refuse Methods to choose scattering angle and azimuth, and also calculate the value of transmitted light of the DLP change with optical thickness and the light intensity changes in relations with the incident optical wavelength and solution concentration. Based on the famous Lambert-Beer law, we use the linear array CCD detector built and optimized the optical experiments, the standard particles (polystyrene spheres) solution as the reference measurement of the soot particle size and concentration. On the basis of total scattering experiment,we measured the distribution of the former scattered light. Measurement results show that this method can meet with the optical experimental measurement.
