This thesis focuses on the light scattering characteristics of earth surface under atmosphere. The primary theory about light scattering and the relationship among each quantity are introduced. The developing process about establish the model of earth surface and several classical methods, which are the methods of radiative transfer, geometric optics, hybrids of two or more of these, and numerical simulation are discussed in detail. The Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF) models of vegetation canopy, soil and desert are discussed. The graphs about variable angle with different parameters are established. The methods of radiative transfer are introduced, which are transfer equations, first-order multiple scattering approximation, diffusion approximation and transfer equations about vegetation canopy. The Monte_Carlo method and the points of its simulation process are discussed. The spectrum reflection characteristic of the vegetation and soil are introduced. The light multiple scattering process in atmosphere by using Monte_Carlo method is simulated. In the end, we discussed and calculated the light scattering characteristic of Earth surface under atmosphere.
