Research And Implement On Map Service Based On OGC

OGC (Open GIS Consortium) has been leading the development of spatial geographic information standards and its basic services. OGC has developed a series of specifications about geographic information sharing and reuse of geographical operations, and geographical information spatial data sharing has been an important goal. With the development of networks, distributed computing technology, interoperability and web service technology become mature gradually, on these bases, there comes the concept of GI Service (Geographic Information Services) technology in the field of GIS, which makes it possible to realize data sharing.Among them, mapping service as a geographical data services has been widely studied and applied. At present, various forms of map services have come out on the network, but because of the differences of their access interfaces, it is difficult to share data. The Web Map Service (WMS) developed by the OGC makes a unified access interface which precisely solves this problem. The article described the research background and current situation of geographic information services and mapping services, and then focused on the technical basis of geographic information services - network services, technical framework of geographic information services, and OGC-defined specification of geographic information services. This paper also researched the current principles of map services on the network, for the basic geographic information services - map service. As it is difficult to share data, this paper studied the Web Map Service (WMS) principles and specifications raised by OGC, built the geometric object model based on OGC's Simple Features Access specifications (SFA), designed and implement WMS based on Visual Studio 2005 platform. At last verified its effectiveness based on multiple platforms.
