Artemia sinica belongs to Phylum Arthropoda, Class Crustacea, Subclass Branchiopoda, Order Anostaca, Family Artemiidae and Genus Artemia. It lives in the high-salt salt lakes and salterns diffusely. Because the Artemia has high content of protein and fatty acid, they become a very important economical diet.β-catenin gene is so important in Wnt pathway. During different embryonic period, the expression ofβ-catenin gene changes very obviously. In early embryonic period, the expression ofβ-catenin gene is a little high. The reason is that the Artemia's life activity is vigorous and the material exchange and information transmission are active.Otherwise, diapause eggs suspend in gastrulation, which is significant differences from other embryonic decvelopment. It is improtant to identify Artemia's embryo development gene, and study the function and mechanism of embryo genes suspension and restart. In this study, 3'-5'RACE was used to obtain the full 2826bpβ-catenin gene for the first time, then determined the gene sequence for Artemia sinicaβ-catenin by BLAST on NCBI(GenBank accession No. : GU289917.1). Used biological software Omiga2.0 and some software online, we can know some character ofβ-catenin gene.Meanwhile, we find that the expression level ofβ-catenin gene is high during the early embryonic period using quantitative real-time PCR, but with the passage of time, the expression fall. The function study ofβ-catenin show that theβ-catenin gene express highly when met with bacteria and high salt using quantitative real-time PCR. As a key of Wnt pathway,β-catenin not only takes part in the control of related gene of embryo development but also regulate the cell adhesion and cell cycle. And all of these things make theβ-catenin very important during the whole embryo development.
