The Dynastinae belongs to Coleoptera, Scarabaeoidea, Scarabaeidae, is one of the large subfamilies in Scarabaeidae, over 1600 known species in the whole world and widely distributed. They most distribute in tropical area, especially abundant in South America, also a great many in Africa and Oceania, Asian species are relatively less. Although the species of Dynastinae in China is not many, merely occupying about 2.5% of world known species, but the study on their taxonomy and geographical distribution have significant theory meaning and economic value, also can be used to provide first-hand information for pest control and beneficial insect utilization. In this dissertation, general morphological characteristics of adult and larval were introduced, and taxonomic study on Dynastinae from China was made with conventional classification method. Based on specimens and document system,41 dynastid beetles are recorded, belong to 4 tribe and 16 genera, viz. Dynastini:3 genera and 6 species; Oryctini:5 genera and 10 species; Pentodontini:7 genera and 21 species; Phileurini:1 genera and 4 species. Among them, there are 1 new record species:Eupatorus sukkiti Miyashita & Arnaud,1997, and 1 new synonym: Eophileurus tetraspermexitus Ratcliffe,1988= Eophileurus tibialis Zhang,1991. Keys to tribes, genera and species were made.Faunal analysis on Dynastinae from China was conducted in the dissertation, and the information of distributing locations was used to draw distribution maps. Six obvious characteristics of the faunal and disdribution of Chinese Dynastinae were found:1. typical Oriental species have absolute advantage in China, occuping 71% of all Chinese Dynastinae; 2. Primitive Pentodotini is the main distributing group of China, exceeding half quantity, namely 51% of all Chinese Dynastinae; 3. In the word's geographical divisions of Dynastinae, all the known genera have species distribute in Oriental Realm; 4. In the zoogeographical divisions of China, all the known genera have species distribute in South China Region, which also has highest species proporation, suggesting very high species richness there, almost containing most species of Chinese Dynastinae, above 70% of all Chinese Dynastinae; 5. Many species distributed narrowly are in China; 6.13 endemic species of China, approximately 32% of all Chinese Dynastinae, concentrating in the following 3 areas: the tropical mosoon forest region of marginal south and southwest Yunnan, Fujian Province and southeast islands (Taiwan Island, Hainan Island and Hongkong Island).
