Since joining the WTO in 2001,China has deeply embedded in the global value chain dominated by developed countries.By attracting foreign investment and developing processing trade,China has undertaken the processing and assembly downstream links in the Global Value Chain. On the one hand, this model makes China integrate into the international circle and obtain trade benefits;on the other hand,it makes China subject to others in key core components, and the added value of the industry and industrial security are facing double challenges. How to achieve the improvement of manufacturing competitiveness, improve its position in the Global Value Chain, and increase the added value of manufacturing in international trade and its influence on the global industrial chain have become an important topic. With the advent of globalization 4.0,the digital economy has become a new trend, which has changed the traditional characteristics of "non-storability" and "non-tradable" of services, and promoted the service industry to move from inefficient sectors to higher productivity, has brought about a trend of increasingly "servitization" in the world economy. In this context, this article based on the typical fact of manufacturing servitization, puts forward the core proposition of this article: whether manufacturing servitization can enhance the competitiveness of a country’s manufacturing industry and promote its position in the Global Value Chain. What is the mechanism? In order to study this proposition, this article first sorts out related issues from the literature, then discusses the issue from a theoretical perspective, and analyzes the servitization of manufacturing and the development of Global Value Chain again, and finally from an empirical perspective The relationship between the servitization of the manufacturing industry and the position of the manufacturing Global Value Chain was tested. There are eight chapters in this article. The introduction of the first chapter introduces the research background, research significance and concept definition of the thesis, and determines the research object and starting point of this article. The second chapter sorts out the literature related to manufacturing servitization and manufacturing Global Value Chain upgrade. The third chapter constructs a theoretical model, from a theoretical perspective, explains the influence of manufacturing servitization on the promotion of manufacturing Global Value Chain position, and analyzes its theoretical mechanism.Chapter 4 describes the status quo of the servitization of the manufacturing industry and the development of Global Value chain.Through statistical analysis, the development of the sample countries is analyzed in detail, and a comparative analysis is made.Chapter 5 uses transnational data to make an empirical analysis on the promotion of manufacturing service-oriented manufacturing Global Value Chain position, and further discusses the blockization of Global Value Chain.Chapter 6 uses the data of Chinese micro-enterprises to make an empirical analysis of the promotion of manufacturing service-oriented manufacturing to the Global Value Chain position of the manufacturing industry, and further discusses in combination with the application of the Internet.Chapter 7 considers the issue of service input quality and analyzes the influence of manufacturing service input quality on the promotion of manufacturing Global Value Chain position.Chapter 8 summarizes the research of this article and puts forward corresponding policy recommendations.Prospects for the next research. The main conclusions of this article include:First, the service level of China’s manufacturing industry is in the middle and lower reaches of the world, which is significantly lower than that of developed countries. In terms of the structure of manufacturing service input, relatively few inputs are made to productive services and relatively few inputs from foreign service elements. These factors limit the further development of service-oriented manufacturing in China. But on the other hand,in China’s manufacturing servicing, the servicing level of high-tech industries is significantly higher than that of low-and medium-tech industries. This shows to a certain extent that China attaches more importance to the transformation and upgrading of high-tech manufacturing. In addition, the sources of foreign investment in China’s manufacturing services are relatively diversified, and trade with East Asia,Europe, and North America are relatively close. This effectively reduces the risk of external economic and trade frictions in the process of China’s promotion of manufacturing services.Second,Global Value Chain trade has become the mainstream of international trade, and trade in intermediate goods accounts for more than 60%.The Global Value Chain has emerged a trend of "blocking",and currently has formed East Asia,Europe and North America production, trade and consumption networks centered on China,Germany and the United States.Under the trend of anti-globalization,deep integration into the regional value chain has become a strategic choice for all countries.Countries such as China,Germany, and the United States have been deeply integrated into the regional value chain network where their country is located.Third, the position of China’s overall industry and manufacturing in the Global Value Chain is still in the middle and lower reaches, and the added value of products still has a certain gap compared with developed countries. It should be noted that from2000 to 2014,China’s overall global value chain position index did not change much, but the Global Value Chain position index of the manufacturing industry declined to a certain extent. It shows that relative to the Global Value Chain position of the overall industry, the position of the Global Value Chain of China’s manufacturing industry has a certain degree of "lock-in effect".In the context of rising factor costs and insufficient domestic innovation drivers,it is more urgent to promote the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry through manufacturing servitization.Fourth, the servitization of manufacturing can significantly promote the position of a country’s manufacturing in the Global Value Chain, and this effect will be more effective with the help of regional value chains. With the "blockization" development of the global value chain, countries have laid out the industrial chain in the regional value chain to reduce risks and costs. The deep integration of the servitization of the manufacturing industry and the regional value chain is more conducive to promoting the transformation and upgrading of the domestic manufacturing industry.Fifth, the servitization of manufacturing enterprises can effectively promote the promotion of enterprises’ position in the Global Value Chain. The servitization of manufacturing enterprises has promoted the upgrading of the value chain by improving the innovation capability of the enterprise;by increasing the production cost of the enterprise, the upgrading of the value chain has been inhibited. But the overall effect showed a boosting effect.Taking into account the situation of the internet,it is further discovered that manufacturing enterprises can effectively promote the improvement of their position in the Global Value Chain with the help of the Internet, but the interactive effect of the serviceization of manufacturing enterprises and the internet has inhibited the improvement of the company’s global value chain position,Which shows that Chinese manufacturing companies have not yet achieved organic integration with the Internet.Sixth, the quality of manufacturing service input also promotes the promotion of manufacturing g Global Value Chain position. The mechanism of action is as follows:the quality of manufacturing service input promotes the improvement of manufacturing industry’s position in the Global Value Chain by improving the level of technological innovation;by increasing production costs,it inhibits the promotion of manufacturing industry’s position in the Global Value Chain. The overall effect presents a boosting effect. It shows that in the process of manufacturing servitization, not only the quantity of service input, but also the quality of service input must be emphasized.
