Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has attached great importance to patriotism education,and has made important statements on fostering students’ patriotic feelings for many times.The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China also proposed the New Era requirements of "deepening the education of patriotism,collectivism and socialism,and striving to train new people of the era to assume the responsibility of national rejuvenation".Patriotism education curriculum is the key to implementing patriotism education’s goal.This research develops reasonable comparison between patriotism education of China and the United States under the precondition of fully understanding their nature differences and social impact factors.On the premise of fully understanding the essential differences,we should strengthen the confidence of the curriculum,and innovate the path of curriculum construction of patriotism education in the New Era through reference,which can effectively enhance the effectiveness of our patriotism education in the New Era.Based on the conceptual analysis of patriotism,patriotic education and patriotic education curriculum,this study expounds the essential characteristics of patriotism in the New Era and contemporary American patriotism respectively,and explains the theoretical basis of curriculum theory.Combined with the above theoretical basis,this paper puts forward the basic framework of patriotic education curriculum,as well as the multiple social factors that affect the patriotic education curriculum,as the basic follow for analyzing and comparing the patriotic education curriculum between China and the United States.The analysis of the curriculum of socialism patriotism education with Chinese characteristics shows that the setting principles and constitution system of the curriculum objectives highlight the dominant position and leading role of the state,and form a goal system that runs through each learning section.The setup structure and compilation logic of the course content follow the principle of "one course outline,one book";The curriculum organization and implementation take the subject as the unit,stimulating the teachers’innovation ability to build virtue and cultivate people guided by the "eight unified";Traditional hidden curriculum of patriotism education and online hidden curriculum of patriotism education are both important supplements of explicit curriculum in schools.The course of patriotism education in the new era is influenced by many social factors:reform and opening-up and economic globalization give birth to the endogenous power of rational patriotism;The advantages of socialist system and political party give the course of patriotism education strong political connotation in the New Era.The excellent traditional Chinese culture solidifies the educational tone of patriotism of the course.In a word,the curriculum of patriotism education in the New Era has distinct characteristics:the curriculum target is guided by the "Implementation Outline of Patriotism Education in the New Era";The contents of the course are both traditional essence and New Era creation;The implementation of the curriculum covers the main humanities subjects of the whole learning period;The hidden course from network patriotism education is emerging.The analysis of the contemporary American patriotism education curriculum shows that the curriculum objective framework is mainly based on the Constitution,the education act and the national curriculum standards proposed by the American Social Science Association.The curriculum design and compilation is based on the C3 curriculum design framework of basic education stage as the top-level design basis,focusing on the cultivation of exploration spirit and critical thinking;The curriculum organization and implementation are guided by five core competencies that social science teachers should possess;The traditional hidden courses and network patriotism education have the characteristics of extensiveness and contradiction.The course of American patriotism education is influenced by multiple social factors:the nature of global expansion of capital promotes the populism of contemporary American patriotism;Partisan political polarization increases the difficulty of curriculum preparation and classroom teaching;Neoconservatism and neoliberalism accompanied by "critical" courses;Colonial history and multiculturalism have led to the integration of civic religion into the curriculum.In a word,the contemporary American patriotism education curriculum has distinct characteristics:Capital rule and hegemonic decline make American patriotism alienation;Integration of school curriculum and social indoctrination in the stage of basic education;Strengthening the spirit of exploration and critical thinking in the curriculum of universities,middle schools and primary schools;The explicit curriculum of patriotism education at the university stage has been diluted and weakened.A comparative study of patriotism education curriculum between China and America in the New Era shows that there are some similarities in curriculum framework and reality structure.But there are essential differences in the fundamental nature and class attributes of courses,and there are also great differences in specific courses.With great achievements,our patriotism education courses in the New Era also face many shortcomings.Therefore,through comparison,we should strengthen the confidence of patriotic education curriculum in the New Era;be firm,confident and self reliant;adhere to the people’s dominant position,and highlight the great advantages of socialism with Chinese characteristics as a "red line"throughout the course construction of patriotic education.In order to improve the quality of patriotism education courses in the New Era,the curriculum objectives and content should be integrated and coordinated,the curriculum organization and implementation should be principled and flexible,and the influencing multiple factors on the hidden network courses should be paid attention to.To strengthen the effectiveness of the New Era patriotism education curriculum through innovation,the curriculum should be planned as a whole,the implementation of the curriculum should be broadened,and should actively build a new hidden curriculum of patriotism education. |
