The Geopolitics of a country has a direct influence on the nation’s fortune.Its importance remained in ancient times,while its significance has immensely increased in the last two centuries.The aim of this study has to examine the geopolitics of GilgitBaltistan(GB)in the context of history,and its vital position for Sino-Pak relations,especially for the CPEC.Furthermore,the study investigates the CPEC new dimensions for Sino-Pak economies,its geopolitical role in the region,the Indian objections on CPEC via GB,and the US reservations.The geopolitical theories,Heartland and Rimland theories have chosen to analyze as its junction point for Heartland(Western China),and Rimland(Gwadar Pakistan)regions to connect through CPEC.The GB was an attractive point for a foreigner by her geopolitical focal point.In 1835 the region lost her sovereignty when the Sikh of Lahore occupied the Ladakh(Baltistan).The British wanted a buffer zone against Russia and sold Jammu and Kashmir to Maharaja Gulab Singh Ex-Governor of Jammu of the Sikh Emperor.The British and Dogra were successful in conquering the whole GB region after 45 years of continuous struggle in 1891.The British made numerous plans to protect British India from the Russian invasion;the first make Gilgit Agency in 1877,and the second took Gilgit Agency controlled for 60 years leased in 1935.While,they returned the Gilgit Agency to Maharaja on 1st August 1947,when the 3rd June 1947 plan has been finalized.As the plan,the Subcontinent has been divided into two states the Pakistan and India,and announced all 562 local states have the right to accessioned with any country.The Maharaja of Kashmir accessioned with India and neglected the state people’swells.On the other side,the Gilgit Scout revolt against Maharaja’s decision on 1st November 1947.The Republic of Gilgit State accessioned with Pakistan after 16 days,but unfortunately,from accessioned to still Pakistani bureaucracy didn’t take a concrete decision about her constitutional status.The GB has the only region that’s connected to the Sino-Pak border and its gateway to CPEC,but her constitutional status has the intense challenge for CPEC.The CPEC has an economic cooperation plan between Sino-Pak,but India,and the US,think its strategic plan against the US and India to counter them in the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean.This dissertation concluded all evidence about GB status in the light of history,and Pakistan’s negligence to be specified constitutional right according to the UN Resolutions 1948.Thus,India and the US took advantage of Pakistan laxity and objected to CPEC via GB.However,all suggestions have put in recommendations to remove the main hurdle on the way of CPEC as the well of GB peoples.
