A Textual Study Of The Common Words And Phrases Of The Che Wang Fu Qu Ben Of The Qing Dynasty

In the Qing Dynasty,the Chedeng Bazar Palace in Beijing collected a number of banknotes(and some individual publications),which contented thousands of volumes of performance texts of opera and folk music in the urban areas of Beijing from Daoguang,Xianfeng to Guangxu,those performance texts were different from that collected in the Forbidden City,most of which were not revised,and retained the original appearance of the opera.There are two main sources of this batch of opera banknotes.One is from the Liyuan opera troupe or the base and secret banknotes sung by artists;The other one is to buy it by counting money from the bookstores or long stands that sold and rented opera books at that time.That is why the works of Quben are rich in language,and retain many popular dialects,colloquial words and sayings in the capital at that time.These colloquial words and sayings truly show the use of words in the late Qing Dynasty,and have very important language and literal value.The original of Che Wang Fu Qu Ben was found in 1925,and then it was circulated several times.Today,these Che Wang Fu Qu Ben has a total of 2010 original banknotes,which mainly distributed in the Peking University Library,the Beijing Capital Library,the Beijing Chinese Academy of Art Drama Research Institute,the Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen University Library,the Taipei “Central Academy” Institute of History and Language Fu Sinian Library,and the Tokyo University Toyo Culture Research Institute.In this research,our research materials are mainly based on 230 original banknote scripts in the published Che Wang Fu Qu Ben,48 original banknote scripts in the Shuanghongtang Library Collection of Rare Chinese Banknote Songs of the Dongyang Culture Research Institute of the University of Tokyo,Japan,and the common words and sayings in 1295 original banknotes in the Unpublished Che Wang Fu Qu Ben,which we call Che Wang Fu Qu Ben Colloquial words and sayings.On the basis of full possession of the relevant characters,document language materials and comprehensive understanding of the relevant research results of the former scholars,we will comprehensively use the knowledge of philology,exegesis,phonology,lexicography,folklore and other disciplines to carry out relevant discussions and studies around the research value of the Qing Che Wang Fu Qu Ben,folk words and sayings,existing point proofreading and problems in the lexicon.This paper is divided into three chapters,and the second chapter as well as the third chapter are the main body of the paper.The first chapter is the introduction of this paper.This chapter introduces the research object of this paper,expounds the research value and significance of the Che Wang Fu Qu Ben of the Qing Dynasty in philology and lexicology,combs the research results of the Che Wang Fu Qu Ben of the Qing Dynasty for more than 20 years,lists the materials used in the research related to the Quben,and explains the collation materials and study methods used in this paper.The second chapter is the textual research and interpretation of the difficult folk characters in the Che Wang Fu Qu Ben in the Qing Dynasty.As mentioned above,there are two main sources of this batch of materials,one is from the script of the Liyuan opera troupe or the original of the artist’s song,and the other is from the bookstores that sold and rented the script of the opera,or copy and buy from a small bookstall.It is inevitable that some of the folk characters of the time,is created by the calligrapher temporarily,and some of the corrupt characters formed by the nonstandard money copying were used in the process of money recording.These common characters have brought great difficulties to later generations when reading these materials.Although most of the common characters have been recorded in the existing proofreading books,due to the complexity of the formation of common characters,there are still some errors in the recognition of common characters.The focus of our research in this chapter is to conduct a systematic interpretation and study of these Knotty Chinese Characters.The third chapter is the textual research and interpretation of difficult colloquial words in the Che Wang Fu Qu Ben in the Qing Dynasty.The music books in the Che Wang Fu Qu Ben of the Qing Dynasty are mainly banknotes bought from old book stores.From the perspective of it’s sources,Che Wang Fu Qu Ben is originally the product of the development of folk literature,mainly for the performance of the common people,and it is easy to understand,so it is inevitably mixed with the “vulgar” elements of the Xialiba people.These popular elements are mainly reflected in some new words and new meanings,old words and new meanings,and folk idioms used in the society from Daoguang to Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty.In combination with the modern Beijing dialect materials,and with reference to the relevant foreign language materials of the Quben,as well as the context of the Quben,we try to study and identify the common words and new words and new meanings in the Quben of Chewangfu.
