By doing so,the article aims to understand how painters can approach things and present their full meaning from the object to the painting, namely, the "phenomenon as essence." This understanding hopes to respond to the lost sensibility and the superficiality of viewing that painting faces in the digital technology media age and to explore the origin and depth of painting. This article is divided into two parts, the first and second part, with a total of five chapters to expound on the topic. The first chapter discusses the background of the history of art before representational painting emerged.By tracing the meaning of "drawing from life" in Western tradition, the chapter continues with Cézanne’s "seeing and feeling" and Impressionism’s "instantaneous analysis of color and light," which is a more natural approach to drawing from life. The second chapter explores the origins of the representational painting method.By examining Cézanne’s late painting new starting point of method transformation, the chapter reveals the gap between the recognition of the "form" and "existence" of a genuine nature. From Derain’s "search for lost secrets" to Giacometti’s infinite proximity to the "truth," the chapter opens up the phenomenon of representational painting. The third chapter elucidates the emergence and specific presentation of the representational painting method of drawing from life. After the abstract expressionism movement of the 1960 s,the return of visual representation in painting emerged, beginning with the sketching of Parisian botanical gardens, the capturing of the decisive moment by Cartier-Bresson,the visual observation of the rediscovery of objects by Avigdor Arikha and the multi-dimensional view of the landscape of human beings by Raymond Mason. The fourth chapter is the focus of the article. It explains the basic methodology of representational painting through the five aspects of "returning to the essence of things," "pure intuition," "intentional composition," "continuous transformation and generation," and "incompleteness" and their interconnectedness as a "phenomenological view."The fifth chapter interprets the philosophy of representational painting as "drawing from life is creating" through the two parts of "approaching absolute truth" and "perfect perception." It reveals the internal perspective of the subject of Chinese artistic spirit and the "drawing from life" in the domain of ontology. The chapter demonstrates how painters can approach things and present their full meaning from the object to the painting. This paper aims to explore the role of "sketching from life" in painting and demonstrate the transformation of epistemological ways of seeing through this painting method.Through sketching from life, painters can directly observe and record natural phenomena, which enables them to gain a deeper understanding of nature and present more realistic and vivid natural images in their work.At the same time, this observation method can also help painters better understand themselves because they are observing both nature and themselves simultaneously.Through sketching from life, the connection between humans and nature is re-established in a way that is no longer based on a one-way epistemological approach, but rather a mutual interaction. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to use painting to re-establish the connection between humans and nature, respond to the deep-rooted dilemma of "what is painting in the age of world images?" and explore the original way of painting.By re-examining the relationship between humans and nature, demonstrating the transformation of epistemological ways of seeing, and exploring the original way of painting,we can gain a deeper understanding of the meaning and value of painting,as well as the relationship between humans and nature. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Sketching, Purely intuitive, Wipe and start over, Unfinishedness, Construction of realm | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
