Confucius and Hui's cheerfulness roots in two chapters of the Analects of Confucius. One is in Chapter Shu'er that says,"Resting on one's bending humerus without enough food and water, he still perceives much cheerfulness", the other is in Chapter Yongye that says,"What a worthy person Hui is! Living in a simple and crude lane with a basket of food and a gourd of water, Hui still can perceives much cheerfulness while others cannot bear the suffering."ZhouDunyi call it as Confucius and Hui's cheerfulness, who was a Neo-Confucian in the initial stages of Song Dynasty. He thought that Confucius and Hui's cheerfulness represents the uppermost realm of Confucianism, and that Confucius and Hui's cheerfulness is such a cheerfulness which pursue is not the material satisfaction but the spiritual satisfaction, and that it was the Masculinity Realm said by Mencius. As a important proposition of the Confucian school's culture and a symbol of a kind of ideal personality, Confucius and Hui's cheerfulness was always canonized and taken delight in talking about it by the scholars after ZhouDunyi whose research aimed in two aspects:one is what is the real meaning of Confucius and Hui's cheerfulness, the other is what is immaterial realm of Confucius and Hui's cheerfulness. The most representational viewpoints of all the scholars were the Neo-Confucians in Song Dynasty and Ming Dynasty which included ZhouDunyi's cheerfulness (Cheng, sincerity), ChengHao's cheerfulness (Ren,benevolence), ZhuXi's cheerfulness(Li, principle) and WangShouren's cheerfulness (Xin, spirit),and so on.In my opinion, I consider that Confucius and Hui's cheerfulness is not only an ideal personality but also a spiritual realm that includes the truth realm which core is sincerity, the moral realm which core is benevolence and the aesthetic realm which core is joyfulness. On the ontological viewpoint, Cheng(sincerity) materializes the opposite and unitive relation of truth, reality, true and real. The real meaning of Cheng (sincerity) nearly equals Ren(benevolence) and Li( principle). Their real meanings,on the ontological viewpoint, are law of nature or the order of nature that is a physical concept. Contrasted to it, the ethical concept of society ethics is "Tao of huminity"and the mental concept of emotional experience is leisure, freedom and satisfaction. Therefore, Confucius and Hui's cheerfulness is a very spiritual realm which includes the truth realm, the moral realm and the aesthetic realm.Nowadays, while constructing our harmonious socialism society, we study on the spiritual realm of Confucius and Hui's cheerfulness and we want to develop Confucian Philosophy which includes the viewpoints of humanity value, happiness and suffering, individual moral cultivate, and so on. Under the socialism market economy, it will be propitious to how to deal with the relation of the material luxury and the spiritual bewilderment, how to accelerate the harmonious development of individual, individual and society, individual and nature, revealing its academic significance and realistic significance.
