As the advocate of new culture,early figures of Communist Party of China actively explored theories on social change.They absorbed and drew upon western advanced thoughts in the torrent of the time.After the October Revolution,influenced by Soviet Russian proletariat revolutionary victory,they began to learn and delve into Marxism in an all-round way.Through contacting and translating treatise and original works on Marxism,they started to publicize Marxism in China and initially formed the music art concept guided by Marxism.As the leaders and participants of China’s social revolution,they actively conducted music creation and education in revolutionary practice.Historical research is based on the exploration and combing of historical materials.After compiling and sorting out articles and works of early figures of CPC and music historical materials in progressive newspapers and Party newspapers taking early figures as the chief editors or editors,the author discovers that in the articles on music written by early figures,only a few directly discuss music issues and song creation.Most of them do not directly discuss music and only touch upon music when discussing other issues or use music examples to explain other issues.This has reflected the views and attitudes adopted by early figures,thus providing guiding significance to the research on history and music theories.The music views of CPC were implied in the debate on modern literary thought.This was mainly shown in the period around the May 4thMovement and early figures identified and surpassed the aesthetic education functions of early figures.After the May 4th Movement,the proletariat music concept guided by Marxism was gradually explored among numerous debates on artistic and literary ideological trend.Its internal core is to make use of Marxist Materialist theories,economic foundation and superstructure theory,and class theory to explain the essence and social function of music.The music culture building by CPC early figures was mainly proceeded from three aspects:actively participate in the creation of revolutionary songs of workers and peasants;improve the traditional opera and write scripts;introduce overseas music life.In the creation of revolutionary songs of workers and peasants,CPC members stressed the collection and combing of folk ballads,adopted the means of“writing lyrics based on the music”,paid attention to the use of dialects,and created proletariat revolutionary songs.Based on the improvement of traditional opera and the writing of scripts,early figures recognized the educational function of drama on the public and paid more attention to the improvement of“unrhymed opera script”for the improvement of traditional opera.In the introduction to overseas music life,early figures translated and communicated overseas music and cultural life to domestic audience.CPC early figures conducted theoretical exploration and practice on music education in a broad sense.In the ideological trend of new democratic education,they investigated and criticized the school music education in the Republic of China(1912-1949).Under the influence of ideological trend of western education,Yun Daiying wanted to enrich his sport theories through Dalcro Ze’s music and physical training theories.In addition,he also advocated the music philosophy of“not educating people with books”.Influenced by lectures given by Dewey in China,Yang Xianjiang considered the social education reality in China,referred to his own music learning experience,and believed that young students should advocate music self-cultivation education.CPC members actively explored the implementation of extensive music education in education for workers and peasants in civilian education.They stressed the publicity and education functions on workers and peasants and believed that music was an effective means to improve relationship and offer education.The research on the music statement made by CPC early figures has displayed two important features.Firstly,localization of Marxism in China.Through the“translation,study and research”on monographs and classic literature on Marxism,early figures have formed early music art concept.Secondly,practicality.Early statement was based on extensive social and folk music survey practice.The historical significance of music statement by early figures of CPC lies in the fact that they introduced and adopted the Marxist historical materialism and confirmed the advanced nature of proletariat music culture.The statement has displayed CPC early figures’active participation in early revolutionary music movement and attempt to explore proletariat revolutionary music ways out.The statement has played the critical transitional role in the long history of development for CPC music cultural undertakings.The inspirations on contemporary era are that we should persist in regarding music as the important means of realizing political and cultural socialization for CPC.Besides,we should deeply master China’s music cultural national condition and provide important guarantee for the building of China’s music culture.The path of giving equal weight to tradition and innovation is the inevitable choice for the building of Chinese music culture.
