A Study On The Female Writing Of Liane Moriarty’s Novel

This paper conducts the research on the novel of Australian writer Liane Moriarty.Combined with her social environment,ethical backgrounds and female identity,this paper studies the female characters and female consciousness in her works,by using multiple methods such as literary ethics,literary geography,feminism and sociology.The full text is divided into five parts:The introduction is divided into four parts.On the premise of summarizing her novels and personal experience,the first explains the reasons for choosing Moriarty’s novels to study from five aspects.The second part reviews the current academic research on Moriarty’s novels and connected works.According to the typology and female connotation of her novels,the third part expounds and defines two concepts used in this paper:female writing and domestic noir.Based on the above parts,the third part is put forward to reveal the research value and significance.In the fourth part,this paper explains the methods and main ideas of this study,and expounds the significance and value of Moriarty’s novels.The first chapter analyzes the three female images presented in Moriarty’s novels and discusses the presentation of female consciousness in her works.In the first section,through the analysis of female characters in the novel,this paper attempts to explore how female writers realize the deconstruction of traditional female images under the male gaze with the intervention of female perspective.The second section analyzes the two typical female traits in Moriarty’s novels:"motherhood nature" and "hysteria",and analyzes the repressed inner of female individuals in the family and ethical environment.The third section focuses on the male characters under the female gaze.By analyzing two typical male images in Moriarty’s works,this paper explores the threats faced by women in family under unhealthy intimate relationships.Based on the construction of female images,the expression of female consciousness and the intervention of female perspective in her works,this paper explores how individual women realize the establishment of self-value and the awakening of self-consciousness in the ethical environment of repressed family and society in contemporary society.The second chapter discusses the ethical dilemmas women face in gender and kinship within family and at social level.The first section mainly analyzes the sexual violence within the family,introduces the concept of "gaslight relationship",and discusses the manifestations and causes of the violence and mental manipulation by men against women within the family.It analyzes how women awaken from the identity of victims,begin to change the gender power relationship in the family,and finally realize the awakening of self-consciousness and the recovery of self-subject under the control of men.The second section mainly analyzes the gender injustice in the social environment and the parent-child relationship contradiction within the family in the ethical entanglement,which causes the psychological anxiety to women.The section explores the moral repression and control caused by the social environment to women,and explores the contradictions between mother and daughter within the family and the forming factors.The third chapter analyzes the construction of the field of women.The field of women is divided into geographic field and ethical field.The construction of women’s living space and women’s family ethics are explored.The former mainly analyzes the construction of the female living space,such as the city space and the family space,which cause women’s depression in the novel.The latter explores how women establish a non-traditional family relationship in contemporary society,such as childless families and single motherhood.The conclusion part discusses the female consciousness,female value,ethical thought and the prospect of women in Moriarty’s female writing.The domestic noir of Liane Moriarty creates a pure female space,focus on the dark side of women’s daily life,and challenge the traditional male hegemony with absolute female orientation.Her novels exist for the purpose of driving women’s self-cognition,showing the oppression and dilemma inside women’s families to the public with the real female experience,and exploring women’s future in family and social life.
