| The publishing of Chinese novel is an important part of the book publishing in theCultural Revolution. Based on the publish study, the thesis focused on the publishing ofthe separate editions of Chinese full-length novels in the Cultural Revolution. With thestudy of the original versions and other first-hand data, the paper introduced thepublishing features of Chinese full-length novel works of this period. The thesis iscomposed of five organic ingredients.The first chapter introduced the key concepts that related to this topic,and thenillustrated the study range and research scope. After that, the paper did a literature review.In ten years for a period of time, the thesis carded the relevant research achievementsand findings, and pointed out the deficiencies and defects of those achievements. At last,it explained the research methods and the research significance.The second chapter focused on the overall background and overall situation of thepublishing of Chinese full-length novels in this period. In the aspects of politics, literaturearts and publishing, the paper inspected the overall environment and characteristic of theChinese full-length novels during the ten years. Besides, it showed bibliographyinformation related to the research.The third chapter introduced the period division and geographical features of Chinesefull-length novels in the Cultural Revolution. The year of 1971 is a boundary year: beforethis year, there were no published works, and after this year, the quantity of the works isgradually increased. Foremost, because of the activities of the people’s LiteraturePublishing House and Shanghai people’s Publishing House, Beijing and Shanghaibecame the important two cities of the period.The fourth chapter studied the creation and the edition process of Chinese full-lengthnovels in the Cultural Revolution, and introduced the role of the editor in the process. Forthe first edition works, the paper described the name types, "three-combination" andcollective creation process. For the second edition works, the paper reviewed the revisionprocess. Besides, it took Wei Junyi, who was the famous editor of the people’s Literature Publishing House, as an example, discussed the editor’s role and effects to the publishingof this kind of works.The fifth chapter introduced the content characteristics of Chinese novel works in theCultural Revolution, and explored the cover arts of these books. The paper firstlyclassified the theme of these works, and made an analysis of the main storyline andimportant character images from the novels. In addition, it also focused on the use of colorand the overall design, and introduced the cover arts of Chinese full-length novels in theCultural Revolution. |
