A Study Of The Ethical Theme In Aoyama Nanae’s Full-Length Novels

As one of the representative writers of the post-80s generation in the contemporary Japanese literary world,Aoyama Nanae has published many novels and won the recognition of professionals in the Japanese literary field.The writer has been exploring and innovating in her writing career all the time,and her works are widely concerned at home and abroad.The ethical theme has been expanded and deepened in Aoyama Nanae’s full-length novels.Based on the close reading of the text and combined with the research methods of literary ethical criticism theory,this thesis starts from the theme and discusses the theme from three aspects of interpersonal relationship,character desire and individual growth.One of the core contents of ethics is the relationship between people.Different types of interpersonal relationships correspond to certain ethical forms.The first chapter analyzes the marriage ethics,family ethics and communication ethics around the relationship between men and women,relatives and social relations.All kinds of ethical relations contain different ethical connotations.In the stereoscopic network constructed by interpersonal relationship,all kinds of ethical phenomena are realistic and contemporary.Desire,as another important concept in ethical research,has been written in a panoramic style in novels.The second chapter makes a detailed analysis of the desires which is closely related to the characters from the three aspects of desire cognition,desire repression and desire release.The object of desire,the form of expression and the way of realization are complex.When the desire of the characters impacts or destroys the ethical order,the ethical dilemma arises.In addition,the growth of characters is also included in the ethical theme of the novel text.Growth is the necessary process for each character to mature.The third chapter interprets the growth awakening,growth struggle and growth reconciliation of the characters.The moral education function and humanism spirit embodied in the novel make the ethical theme of the text more profound.Aoyama Nanae’s novels embody rich ethical implications.This thesis discusses the ethical theme of her works,through the analysis of the text to explain ethical phenomena,to find ethical problems,to explore ethical values,and to enhance the attention and research on the ethical thoughts of the writers’ works.
