The development of architectural design education in China has a history of more than 100 years,and Academy of Arts are the earliest and continuing participants.However,the current discussion of architecture education is limited to the content of running a school with name "architecture" based on engineering schools,so that Academy of Arts once practiced with professional names such as "pattern","arts and crafts","practical art","interior design" and "environmental art" with architectural design features are excluded from the boundaries of architectural education research,affecting directly the integrity of the architectural education map.Therefore,the few architectural design education of Acadermy of Arts in our country has been divided into two periods,the period of the Republic of China and the new millennium,and the continuation and inheritance between them have been neglected.This article clearly takes Chinese Academy of Arts as the research object,takes architectural design education as the research boundary,and sorts out the architectural design teaching history of Academy of Arts in each period in time order.While restoring the process of running a school,through the study of historical background,national policies,ideas and other environmental factors,the specific teaching is analyzed in the way of combining history and theory,and the origin of art colleges and universities in architectural design education is revealed.The characteristics and potential of architectural design education in Academy of Arts under the current educational situation is pointed out.The full text divides the development of architectural design education in China’s art colleges into six historical stages,and presents them individually in the form of chapters: The first chapter is from the late Qing Dynasty to the first year of the Republic of China,Introducing the spreading process of the concept of western modern architecture in our country and the specific preparation for running the school.The second chapter is from the first year of the Republic of China to before the full-scale outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan,showing the preliminary examination of architectural education in Academy of Arts in China under a relatively stable social environment;the third chapter is the establishment of the education system from the war period to the new China.Before,in the special wartime environment,the architectural design education of art colleges and universities produced a more practical teaching tendency;the fourth chapter is the adjustment of the colleges and departments to the eve of the political movement in 1966,and the normal teaching activities were affected by the cultural revolution movement.After the shutdown,architectural design education was gradually reduced to craft teaching and decoration teaching;the fifth chapter focuses on the environmental art design major,which was started up by the 1985 Art Trend,and clarifies its relationship with architectural design education;The sixth chapter focuses on the architectural design education of contemporary Academy of Arts,and reveals the potential of this kind of schooling based on environmental art design and oriented by engineering architecture.At the end of the paper,through the summary of the research work,it proposes the lack of cognition in the academic circles of architectural design education in art colleges and universities in China,requires redefining the origin of architectural design education,and points out the current challenge of architectural design educacation in China in different school-running environments.Finally,the necessity and urgency of establishing an architectural design creation and practice evaluation system are emphasized.In recent years,with the development of research-oriented universities,the discipline of architecture in engineering has been impacted,and there has been a tendency to move closer to scientific research standards.As the origin of architectural design education,Academy of Arts,whose teaching characteristics centered on design research,just make up for the lack of research universities and provide a new platform for the diversified development of architectural design education.The full text is about 148,000 words,with 23 pictures and 47 tables.
