Research On Urban Marathon Path From The Perspective Of Spatial Narrative Theory

The current planning and construction of urban space has entered an era of stock development,and in the process of integrating material and intangible elements of urban development,new challenges have been posed to urban space development.On the one hand,how can cities use their spatial resources well in the current wave of internationalization,build a cultural framework for urban space,enhance urban competitiveness,and enable citizens to find a sense of belonging in urban space;On the other hand,as society as a whole enters the "postmodern" era,people are breaking through the shackles of the past and forming a new understanding of the city and space.However,this understanding is fragmented and lacks a systematic understanding to organize.This contradiction causes people to experience difficulties in the rapidly changing urban space,such as the anxiety,confusion,and confusion brought by space Lack of locality in spatial locations,etc;Therefore,it is necessary to return to the essence of space and organize people’s fragmented postmodern consciousness and alleviate people’s spatial experience difficulties from a comprehensive and systematic spatial thinking theory,in order to achieve self consistency.A core area of urban spatial research is the interrelationship between spatial form and social development processes,as well as the subject’s understanding of the existence and narrative nature of the spatial environment.The combination of space and narratology,spatial narratology,brings not only the expansion and simple cross-border of research fields to urban spatial research,but also constructs a new theory and way of thinking,that is,to deeply understand the internal logic of existing spaces,organize spatial characteristic elements in a spatial narrative way,and reproduce them in cognition,construct and enrich people’s spatial consciousness,and achieve the "imagery and meaning" of urban space.The theory and cognitive methods of spatial narrative focus on people’s cognitive awareness of non material elements of space,clarifying the narrative correlation between the subject and the object through intuitive cognitive experiences and given logic,and conducting a clear analysis of the logical order of this understanding,with the hope of achieving higher cognitive needs for space and constructing the human body’s own perceptual habits.At the same time,spatial narrative is also a comprehensive cognitive method,a methodology that integrates the urban material spatial environment,intangible elements,and human cognitive consciousness.It is the spatial cognition of the subject acting on the spatial environment and phenomena,and can also be understood as a spatial experience with strong order and logicality.The study of spatial narrative attempts to find an interactive relationship between people and their living environment,cognition and spatial places,in order to grasp the current existence of the subject in space.The entire article is divided into nine chapters,with the overall logic as follows:background analysis-review research-theoretical research-case empirical research-summary of case comparative analysis and strategic research.This article first starts from the transformation of spatial awareness cognition in postmodernism and the current dilemma of urban space experience,and elaborates on the rationality of the integration of spatial narrative and marathon path space from two aspects: explicit coupling and implicit coupling.It affirms the necessity of spatial narrative from three aspects: deepening the cultural architecture of urban space,enhancing immersive experience of spatial narrative,and constructing comprehensive cognitive logic of path space.(Chapter 1)Then trace the development trend and context of Western space philosophy theory,extract several main categories of space philosophy development,such as "biopsychology","spatiotemporal relationship","will,essence","phenomenology","cognitive schema",and "social space";Summarize the development and research status of spatial narrative in China and the West from the three application fields of urban planning,architectural design,and landscape design,as well as the themes of spatial narrative in different periods.Space narrative mainly includes four research directions: understanding and sorting out the development context of space narrative,space narrative theory itself,space narrative analysis methods and applications,and space narrative design and translation.(Chapter 2)Later,the multi-dimensional ontological analysis of space narrative was carried out from five aspects: the internal logical relationship between space and narrative,the dialectical relationship between space narrative and memory time,phenomenology and space cognitive narrative,the relationship between space narrative and image symbols,the events of space-time narrative and culture.The internal logical cognition of space was organized in the way of space narrative,which deepened the theoretical research of space Narratology,Construct the core framework of spatial narrative theory.Then,the physical structure and characteristics of urban path spatial narrative are studied from three aspects: the physical structure and system of spatial narrative,spatial narrative techniques,and the evaluation model framework of spatial narrative;Construct a set of urban path spatial narrative analysis and evaluation methods based on four aspects of "narrative value" assignment indicators: physical space,spatial culture and image,historical events,and emotional experience.Chapter 5 mainly analyzes the correlation between the practical analysis methods of spatial narrative theory and the spatial narrative of marathon paths.Firstly,the previous two chapters summarize and propose the practical analysis methods of spatial narrative theory,namely spatiotemporal narrative,cognitive narrative,physical spatial narrative,and existential narrative.Then,the correlation(applicability)between marathon paths and spatial narrative theory is analyzed,mainly manifested in the form of marathon paths The internal correspondence between spatial structure,events,and cultural influences,as well as the inherent linguistic nature,spatial order,event memory,and phenomenal cognition of spatial narrative,is introduced.Finally,the development overview of urban marathons in China in recent years is introduced.(Chapter 5)Then analyze the overall narrative analysis of the marathon path space in Guangzhou,Beijing,and Shanghai in sequence;And through on-site visits,research,and theoretical analysis,each marathon path is divided into 9 or 10 spatial sections(nodes)for analysis and sorting,in order to deeply analyze the cultural and narrative characteristics of urban space.In the segmented narrative,select multiple sections with main and different types,and use four levels: spatiotemporal narrative,physical spatial narrative,cognitive narrative,and existential narrative to carefully sort out the physical,spatiotemporal evolution,and cultural characteristics of space,as well as human cognitive imagery of space.Summarize the narrative characteristics of each urban marathon path,and present the characteristics of urban spatial narrative as clearly as possible,while also expressing the cognitive logic of urban space.The final chapter(Chapters 6-8)evaluates and analyzes the spatial narrative of three urban marathon paths,summarizes the inherent logical characteristics and narrative mechanisms of marathon paths,and proposes the path planning principles and strategies for urban marathon spatial narrative.Based on the strategy of "historical and cultural spatiotemporal narrative guidance+physical space protection+high-quality features,and big event space highlights",adjustment suggestions are designed for the three marathon tracks.At the same time,summarize the content of the four levels of spatial narrative and improve the theory;And summarize the cognitive basic characteristics of urban spatial narrative and the main ways of subject spatial narrative.Summarize the cognitive mode of the subject towards urban spatial narrative.(Chapter 9)Main innovation points of the research:(1)In terms of spatial narrative theory,firstly,a multidimensional ontological analysis and exploration of spatial narrative theory are conducted,which elaborates on the internal logical relationship between space and narrative from an ontological perspective,distinguishes the logical connection between spatial narrative and the main cognitive concepts of the environment(time,space,memory,culture,symbols,etc.),and sorts out the relevant concepts and logical characteristics of spatial narrative theory in the cognitive process,It has constructed the core theoretical framework of space narrative research,deepened the theoretical research of space Narratology,and laid a theoretical foundation for further research on the theory and methods of space Narratology.(2)In terms of cognitive theory: Transdisciplinarity is conducted on spatial cognition from the perspectives of philosophy,psychology,urban planning,phenomenology,etc.,to construct the spatial cognitive logic of spatial narrative.By returning to human consciousness,integrating meaning and essence into experience,and combining interdisciplinary research,a holistic narrative cognitive perspective is proposed;It is also a new spatial cognitive schema and a comprehensive Spatial analysis method.Analyzing how physical space is understood by people’s narrative thinking can help us to realize the cognition of urban space "inside,outside".(3)In terms of cognitive methods,based on the sorting and research analysis of narrative theories,four levels of cognitive methods and theories for spatial narrative are proposed,namely: spatiotemporal narrative,physical spatial narrative,cognitive narrative,and existential narrative.The four levels not only deepen the theory of spatial narrative,but also make the content of spatial narrative clearer and more imageable,allowing people to intuitively feel the content and internal order of spatial narrative.In addition,the four layers based on spatial narrative provide strategies and suggestions for marathon path planning,which also have theoretical guidance for the planning and organization of other spatial paths.(4)In terms of analysis methods: learn from relevant urban planning Spatial analysis and other methods,as well as the summary of practical case analysis,explore a variety of analysis methods at different narrative levels,and form a set of spatial narrative analysis methods and evaluation methods for urban paths.Firstly,starting from the current space,use the "spatiotemporal evolution analysis" method to sort out the historical and cultural materials and spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of each spatial section,summarize and display the internal logical order of the space;Then,in the narrative of urban physical space,from the analysis of overall structure and characteristics to the quantitative analysis of street scenes(such as element composition ratio,spatial aspect ratio,shading rate,etc.);Propose the "narrative value" assignment index,and conduct comprehensive narrative evaluation from four aspects: physical space,spatial culture and image,historical events,and emotional experience.Construct an evaluation framework for urban marathon path space narrative,and achieve multidimensional evaluation research on path space narrative.
