As one of the most important art movements from the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth century,the Art Nouveau movement profoundly influenced almost all fields of art,including architecture,decoration,real objects,and graphic design,with its unprecedented unique form and fusion of the old and new eras.The Art Nouveau movement played an extremely important role in promoting the transformation of modern art in the twentieth century.Through collecting a large number of first-hand documentary materials and actual on-site research,and combining methods and concepts from interdisciplinary research fields such as communication,art,and sociology,this paper reveals the interaction and influence of the Art Nouveau movement under various spatial and temporal conditions,and interprets the external social and artistic connotations of the Art Nouveau movement,in order to expand the true perception of its communication development laws and the nature of multifaceted artistic phenomena.The Art Nouveau movement revealed a variety of complex artistic attributes during its development at the turn of the century,and it still has a profound influence and reference effect on the exploration of various art fields.Previous studies of the Art Nouveau movement have mostly interpreted this movement of artistic change from the perspective of Western art history,which inevitably has great limitations and incompleteness.This dissertation seeks to explore the commonalities in the development of the Art Nouveau movement from a global perspective,taking the alltime development and dissemination of Art Nouveau as a clue,and to reveal and construct the laws of the occurrence,development and evolution of the Art Nouveau movement and its morphological characteristics.In addition,in the process of global diffusion,the Art Nouveau movement arrived in China,far away from the East,during the diffusion phase of its development(1896-1900).Previous studies on Chinese Art Nouveau have mostly focused on discussions of Art Nouveau in Harbin,and the research horizon is not comprehensive and complete.In this paper,we analyze the all-round Art Nouveau movement in the Chinese region,reveal the ways of dissemination of Art Nouveau in China,and clarify the unique mode of dissemination of Art Nouveau in China that is different from that of Europe and its regional characteristics.In a truly comprehensive and complete sense,the development of the Art Nouveau movement in the global context is interpreted.The Art Nouveau movement has its own profound causes and inevitability,and an objective analysis of the background and influencing factors of its time is a prerequisite for an in-depth study of the Art Nouveau movement.At the same time,as a product of the transformation of art across the centuries,the ways and methods to explore the direction of Art Nouveau are extremely rich and diverse.However,Art Nouveau’s strong admiration for naturalness makes the architectural and decorative representations of various countries present a universal nature with commonality,and its complex factors also lead to obvious differences in the architectural and decorative representations of Art Nouveau in various countries.Based on the concept of artistic symbolic reproduction and symbolic reproduction,this paper,based on a large number of actual cases of Art Nouveau movements,intensifies the analysis of Art Nouveau architectural and decorative representations,revealing that the basic representations of Art Nouveau movements are based on pictorial and mediated artistic reproduction,thus making up for the shortcomings of previous studies of Art Nouveau movements in isolation.The Art Nouveau movement has a keen foresight and insight in both the presentation of artistic representations and the expression of artistic connotations and spirits and has a purposeful form of a priori artistic understanding.Through a deeper analysis of the Art Nouveau movement’s works,both in part and as a whole,in appearance and connotation,in the whole spatial and temporal context,we can further explore the far-reaching influence of the Art Nouveau movement on the twentieth century and the new century,reveal the historical and artistic values of the Art Nouveau movement as a cross-century artistic trend,and analyze the relevance of Art Nouveau to contemporary architectural and decorative design concepts and their revelations. |
