When every city and every building becomes stereotyped,losing its cultural identity and local character,how to create a place has become an urgent problem.Looking back on the etymology of the word "architecture" in Chinese,the establishment and construction of local context is fundamental for Chinese architecture,while the construction of living space is its goal.Therefore,the space production mechanism of "from land to place" is the theme of research.West lake,as an overall cultural space covering a variety of traditional Chinese dwelling types,is taken here as a space sample in the study.By studying how a place like the West Lake is produced as an integrated organic whole,the thesis summarizes the design method of space production mechanism,and tries to answer the question of what the West Lake as a whole points to.Considering the spatial integrity and the the time process of the production of the West Lake,the study on the West Lake is sliced into three segments based on the structural transformation of its the nature of the West Lake in its generation stage.Each slice takes the difference of geospatial basis as the core,and each slice means the completion of the humanistic shaping stage of geography.Space slice Ⅰ is the structural stage of "mountain,lake and city".This stage is due to the construction of seawall.After the city moved eastward,the West Lake became the west of the city,which was the first moment when the West Lake became the West Lake.At this time,the lake was also in the midst of mountain forest and city,however,they are independently of each other.The West Lake developed naturally in the shape of points.Space slice 2 is the structural stage of "half mountain forest and half city".At this stage,due to the nationwide large-scale urban planning and construction,the city and the mountain became two independent areas with the expansion of the city as well as the comprehensive development of mountain forest at the same time.The West Lake has been gradually internalized since the function of urban public waterways were transferred to cities.At this time,the levee construction led by Bai Juyi completed a set of water conservancy system,and the West Lake began to have a clear and visible silhouette.The structure"mountain,lake and city"gradually evolved into "half mountain forest and half city".However,the closure of the city led to the juxtaposition of the city and the mountain,while Bai Juyi’s poems built the "Paramitality",the landscape aesthetic of the West Lake as well as its spatiality of the scene was therefore created.Space slice 3 is the structural stage of "West Lake as the heart·interaction between mountain and city".At this stage,since the Southern Song Dynasty established the capital in the city,the city gradually opened.As a result,the West Lake occupied the center position between the mountain forest and the city.The city and the mountain forest began to interact with each other,with the city’s Wasi market shifting to mountain forest as well as mountain forest shrinking into urban gardens,and owned two worlds at the same time.The lake center of the West Lake were continuously constructed by the embankment island.Meanwhile,the levee construction led by Su Shi started the process of integration of the city and mountain forest.He also started the creation of the image space of the West Lake.Poetry,calligraphy and painting works such as the ten scenes of the West Lake have contributed to the space production of the West Lake.The three slices represent the whole of the West Lake in different stages.With the comprehensive analysis of space through mixed literature research method,the study shows how the West Lake is generated step by step on the basis of geography. |
