Research On The Impact Of Supply Chain Core Enterprises’ Constraints On The Work Safety Behavior Of Small And Medium-sized Manufacturing Enterprises

In recent years,frequent work safety accidents and employees’ occupational safety and health incidents occurred in SMMEs(small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises)in China,which affect economic development and social stability,but also cause significant financial loss and reputation loss to other enterprises in supply chain,and even cause the supply chain disruption.The participation of core enterprises in supply chain work safety governance is a beneficial supplement to the government’s safety supervision.This has garnered the attention and interest of the government and all sectors of society.However,there is a relative scarcity of theoretical research and practical cases studies on how core enterprises can regulate the work safety behavior of SMMEs.Therefore,it is necessary to conduct in-depth research on the mechanism through which core enterprises can influence the work safety behavior of SMMEs.Herefore,it is necessary to conduct in-depth research on the mechanism of core enterprises affecting the work safety behavior of SMMEs,guide SMMEs to participate in supply chain work safety governance,and enhance the work safety level of SMMEs and the entire supply chain.This paper focuses on this issue,taking “Research on the Impact of Supply Chain Core Enterprises’ Constraints on the Work Safety Behavior of Small and Medium-sized Manufacturing Enterprises” as the research theme based on reviewing relevant literature and theories,and according to the current situation of the manufacturing supply chain in China,taking SMMEs as suppliers as the research object.Based on the in-depth interview,grounded theory,questionnaire survey,structural equation model,Stackelberg game,and other research methods,a systematic study is conducted on the impact of core enterprise constraints on the work safety behavior of SMMEs in the supply chain in China’s current manufacturing industry.The specific content can be summarized as follows:(1)Research on the impact mechanism of supply chain core enterprises’ constraints on the work safety behavior of SMMEs.Based on the research question of work safety behavior of SMMEs,this study takes core enterprises in the supply chain as the starting point,and uses in-depth interviews and grounded theory method to construct a mechanism model of the influence of core enterprise constraints on work safety behavior of SMMEs based on the “stimulus-organism-response”(SOR)theory.Combined with textual data from interviews and relevant literature research,the definitions of the concepts involved in the model are explained and the internal connections between the concepts are analyzed and explained,and the relationship hypotheses of the research model are finally proposed.The research shows that the influencing factors of core enterprise constraints on work safety behavior of SMMEs can be refined into constraint behavior,constraint cognition,and constraint mode.The mechanism of the impact of core enterprise constraints on work safety behavior of SMMEs is that core enterprise constraint behavior not only directly affects the work safety behavior of SMMEs,but also indirectly affects their work safety behavior through the mediation of SMME constraint cognition,and core enterprise constraint mode plays a moderating role in the process of the impact of its constraint behavior on SMME constraint cognition.(2)Empirical research on the impact of supply chain core enterprises’ constraints on the work safety behavior of SMMEs.After a small-scale pre-survey,a formal questionnaire was formed,and the collected sample data were analyzed by structural equation model analysis and relationship hypothesis testing using SPSS27.0 and AMOS21.0 software to further clarify the impact path and effect of core enterprise constraints on work safety behavior of SMMEs.The validation results show that: firstly,the constraint behavior of core enterprises can not only significantly and directly affect the work safety behavior of SMMEs,but also indirectly influence their work safety behavior through the mediating role of their work safety capacity,thus improving the level of work safety;secondly,core enterprise safety evaluation behavior can induce SMMEs to feel pressure on work safety,indirectly affecting their safety management and safety prevention behavior,which is determined by the SMMEs’ market dependence on the core enterprise.The higher the dependence,the greater the pressure they will feel for work safety,and vice versa.(3)Research on the coordination of interests in work safety between core enterprises in the supply chain and SMMEs.Given the characteristics and realistic background of the relationship between core enterprises and SMME suppliers in the manufacturing supply chain,based on the principal-agent theory,the Stackelberg game model between core enterprises and SMMEs is constructed,the work safety level is parameterized,and when the two enterprises achieve their respective business objectives and safety objectives,The profit distribution strategies under centralized decision making,decentralized decision making,revenue sharing contract and revenue sharing cost-sharing contract are respectively analyzed.The total profit and work safety level of the supply chain under different decision-making situations isanalyzed.The game results show that the core enterprise and small and medium enterprises form a community of interests of the manufacturing supply chain through the benefit sharing and cost-sharing contract.The work safety level and the overall target profit of the nodal enterprises of the supply chain reach the Pareto optimal equilibrium level,to improve the general work safety level of the supply chain.(4)Suggestions for promoting work safety in SMMEs from the perspective of constraints from supply chain core enterprises.Based on the research on the mechanism of core enterprise constraints on work safety behavior of SMMEs,empirical validation,and game analysis,suggestions for promoting work safety behavior of SMMEs under core enterprise constraints are proposed.These include: utilizing the relationship constraint function of core enterprises,establishing the core enterprise interest constraint mechanism,and stimulating endogenous motivation for work safety in SMMEs.This paper is innovative in its use of the “behavior constraint-effect of constraint”perspective to study the issue of core enterprise constraints on work safety behavior of SMMEs.It proposes a new paradigm for the governance of work safety issues in supply chain enterprises and uses various scientific methods to reveal the impact mechanism and influence pathway of core enterprise constraints on work safety behavior of SMMEs,and to establish an interest coordination mechanism between core enterprises and SMMEs.The series of research findings in this paper to some extent improve the framework of research on governance of work safety in the supply chain,and provide recommendations on how core enterprises in the supply chain can promote work safety in SMMEs,which is conducive to improving the work safety level of SMMEs,promoting the overall occupational health and work safety of the supply chain,and has certain academic value and reference significance for both theory and practice.
