A Multi-dimensional Study On Blockchain Trust

The birth of blockchain has brought a new way of trust.However,even after more than a decade of development of this technology,there is still a lack of research on the mechanism of generating trust by blockchain,especially related to the humanities fields such as sociology and philosophy.In the light of this,this paper treats the mechanism of blockchain trust as a theme of research and tries to answer the basic question of "Why can blockchain generate trust?" in a multi-disciplinary and multi-level perspective.With a detailed investigation of the technical background of blockchain and the relevant technical features that generate blockchain trust,this paper mainly applies the relevant achievements of sociological theory,media theory and social science philosophy to conduct a systematic and indepth study of the mechanism of generating blockchain trust and the functions of blockchain trust.Accordingly,the article is divided into three main parts.The first part,consisting of Chapters 1,2 and 3,mainly investigates the history of technology related to the development of blockchain(which contains the pre-history of blockchain technology and the history of its own development),and the social and cultural factors related to it,and also describes the main trust-related features and mechanisms in blockchain from the technical aspect.The second part,consisting of chapters 4 and 5,mainly studies blockchain trust from the social science level based on the previous part,namely,it explains the generation mechanism and functions of blockchain trust from the macroscopic and microscopic perspectives of social science,respectively.In the specific study,the rational choice theory in sociology and the mediated theory in communication are mainly used to investigate the blockchain trust.Through the analysis of these two theories,this paper achieves a micro explanation and a macro explanation of the mechanism of blockchain trust.The third part,Chapter 6,focuses on the evaluation of the research work in the second part at the level of the philosophy of social sciences and tries to to give an integration solution that can unify micro and macro explanations.Finally,the paper concludes with an explanatory solution based on a systemic perspective and ideas.On the basis of the above examination,this paper concludes that: from the micro level,the generation of blockchain trust is based on the equalization of interests between individuals by the blockchain;while from the macro level,blockchain has changed the previous social interaction mode by "embedding",and also changed the medium of carrying relationship of trust,thus fundamentally changing the way of generating and maintaining the relationship of trust and replaced some of the functions of traditional trust.Therefore,as a new type of trust driven by technology,blockchain trust has unique advantages and values in the social interaction constituted by network.However,in essence,it is an expansion of the relationship and structure of trust in human society in general,so the mechanism and function of its generation can be reasonably explained within the theoretical framework of existing social sciences and philosophy.However,due to the complexity of blockchain technology and social trust itself,the mechanism explanation for blockchain trust is somewhat pluralistic.Therefore,this paper finally attempts to integrate the separation of blockchain trust mechanisms caused by the previous distinction between macro and micro perspectives through the idea of system.
